"Hi," I said as I woke up, stretching my legs.
"'Morning," Lupin mumbled, leaning to brush his lips over my cheek. I buried my face into his covers, curling into the warmth of his body.
I whined when I felt him shift away, slipping out from under his covers.
"I'll be back," he promised and disappeared into the bathroom. I sighed and sat up, bringing the covers with me. December brought with it frigid temperatures, and Lupin preferred to sleep in the cold, which was great for cuddling, but bad for when he left me alone in bed.
A couple of minutes later, he reemerged and collapsed onto the bed, resting his head in my lap.
"Any plans for today?" I asked, running my fingers through his hair.
"No," he mumbled, letting his eyes fall shut.
"Don't get too comfy," I said. "I have to go to the bathroom."
Lupin groaned and rolled onto his side of the bed, watching me with tired eyes as I slipped into the bathroom.
I went to the bathroom, washed my face, and brushed my teeth before returning, finding Lupin asleep again. I carefully took my spot beside him, giggling when he slung his arm around me, his eyes still shut.
"I thought you were sleeping," I said.
"No," he murmured.
"Are you going back to bed?" I asked, pushing his hair out of his face.
"No. I just want to stay here," he said and pressed his face into my neck, sighing contentedly. "Do you have to leave?"
"No," I said.
"I love holiday break," he said and peppered kisses on my neck.
I exhaled deeply and tangled my hand in his hair, tilting my head to give him better access to my neck. I tried to calm my breathing as he slipped a hand under the hem of my shirt, sliding up my stomach and resting on my ribcage.
"I can feel your heart," he said. "It's beating really fast. Are you nervous?"
"No."
Lupin pulled away to look at me, his hand still on my ribs, large and warm. He pulled his hand away suddenly, sitting up in bed, his back to me. I watched him with wide eyes, quickly pushing my shirt back down to cover my stomach.
"Are you okay?" I asked and sat up. "Did I do something wrong?"
"No," he said.
"No?"
"No, you didn't do anything wrong," he clarified, running his hand through his hair. "I just don't want to..." He trailed off. A few moments of silence followed.
"Do you not like me or something?" I asked.
"What?"
"Do you not like me? Because it doesn't seem like you really like me all that much," I said.
"No, Miss Y/L/N, it's not like that," he said. "I just don't want to rush you."
"It's been a month," I said. "Three months if you count from the first time we kissed."
"Exactly, and that's not all that long," he said, running his fingers over his eyebrow.
"Yes, it is," I said and furrowed my eyebrows. "I don't want to pressure you into anything but I can't help but to feel a little hurt by it."
"You shouldn't," he said. "It's not like that."
"And how am I supposed to know that?" I asked, moving so that I could see his face.
