I woke up with a sigh, my eyes fluttering open. Remus's head was resting on my chest, his hair tickling the underside of my jaw. I smiled and ran my fingers through his hair. He stirred in his sleep, inhaling deeply through his nose and readjusting.
"What time is it?" he mumbled, sliding his hand up to rest on my ribcage.
"It's early yet," I said. "Not even seven."
"Is it Wednesday or Thursday?"
"Wednesday," I answered. He sighed in relief.
"No classes until fourth period," he said. "Perfect."
"I have to go to the bathroom," I said, watching as he pouted but rolled over. "I'll be right back."
I went to the bathroom and scrubbed my face, brushing my teeth afterward. I felt well-rested, but I would be happy enough to spend the morning in bed with Remus.
When I left the bathroom, he was lying on his back, one of his arms folded behind his head.
"I missed you," he said when I sat down on the bed. "Come here."
"I was gone for, like, three minutes," I said and raised my eyebrows, setting my head on his chest.
"Three minutes too many," he said, wrapping his free arm around me.
I scoffed quietly and shut my eyes, letting the steady rise and fall of Remus's chest soothe me.
"I have to shower," he said after a couple of minutes. I whined. "I don't want to go either," he said, "but I don't want to have to rush later. I'd rather do it now and then spend the rest of the morning with you. You'll be here when I get back?"
"Sure," I said and frowned as he stood, stretching his arms over his head as he walked. I buried my nose into his duvet and let his scent comfort me in his absence. He left the bathroom door barely cracked open behind him, and I listened as the shower turned on. Through the crack in the door, the scent of his soap wafted into his bedroom.
I chewed on my lip and readjusted on his bed, trying to get comfortable. The covers were growing cold without his body heat, causing a frown to grow on my face.
The shower turned off and I perked up. A couple of minutes later, Remus appeared in the doorway.
"Forgot clothes," he said.
My eyes went wide as I saw him standing with a towel wrapped around his hips. Immediately, my heart lurched in my chest, pounding. His back was to me as he rummaged in his dresser for something to wear, each of his movements causing the muscles in his back to shift.
God, since when were backs attractive to me?
"Where is my..." he muttered to himself, running a hand through his hair. His bicep flexed from the movement, the shift of his shoulderblade accentuating the natural build of his body.
Should I stop looking? Does he not realize how attractive he is? I wondered, taking in the sight of him greedily.
"I can't find my green sweater," he said and turned around, meeting my eyes. "Are you okay?"
"Uh, yeah," I stammered, trying not to let my eyes wander. "Yeah, I'm fine. Really good, actually. Well, normal, I meant; not any more good than usual." I couldn't stop my eyes from traveling to his chest. I quickly brought my eyes back to his face, my cheeks growing hot.
"You're cute," he said with an amused grin.
I looked away, focusing on his duvet. "Well, uh, I haven't seen your sweater anywhere," I said.
