Waking up, my wrists ache from a burn. I groan lightly, looking up.
Vervain ropes.
I suck in my lips and rip my hands free, snapping the ropes. I wince at the burning sensation on my wrists and jump out of bed. I stop at the doorway and slowly place one foot out.
Idiots. Didn't even spell my room shut.
I walk down the empty, quiet hallway and down the stairs.
It's eerily quiet. Too quiet. They're planning something.
I make my way to the door, but a voice speaks, "Evelyn."
I turn around and see Freya standing there. "You healed. And here I was, thinking you wouldn't survive." I retort, my voice monotone.
"It was an illusion." She announces, and I raise an eyebrow.
"Well, gives me another chance at hurting you. Although, this time, I'll do more than that." I admit with a glare. She holds her hands out and my head starts pounding.
I yell in pain as she continues, whispering a spell I can't hear.
"Icaeus!" I yell, and she flies into a wall, the spell stopping. I turn to run, but Elijah is already there. My eyes fall to the dagger in his hand. "I apologize." He whispers.
"So do I." He jerks toward me, but I push his arm, twisting my body until I'm flush against him and flipping him over my shoulder.
"Kol!" Freya yells. I snap my head toward her as Kol, Hope, and Oliver jump over the railing.
I sneer. "You always were one for dramatic entrances."
Hope smiles sarcastically. "Think you got me and you mixed up, little sis."
I flick my wrist, snapping Elijah's neck. "Alright. Let's do this." I step over his body.
Kol is the first to attack. He sends a punch flyying for my face, but I twist, grabbing his arm and kneeing him in the stomach. He grunts and I toss him to the ground, but Hope and Oliver are already on me.
Oliver grabs my arm, but I punch him square in the face, his nose cracking. He lets go and I kick him in the stomach, watching as he flies into the compound.
Hope pins me to the wall by my throat, but I grab hers and peel us off the wall. I pull her in by her neck and slam it against mine, her nose cracking. I send one, two, three punches to her face, letting her fall to the ground.
I grunt as I'm grabbed from behind, an arm wrapping around my throat. "I can't believe I'm doing this." A voice whispers against my ear.
"So don't." My hands tighten on their arm, pulling.
I let out a small gasp of surprise as Hope stabs me in the heart with the dagger created specifically for me.
I stand in shock. Hope stabbed me. With the very thing that can keep me dead.
