My eyes blink open to darkness, I can hear a faint snoring from the room nextdoor. I stepped out of my bed, misty moonlight from the window lit up the dark carpeting infront of it. Light flashed under the crack in the door.
I heard the thump of my feet touch the floor, and taking in the absolute silence of this moment was making my mind pace fast, I reached in my pocket and took a deep breath in. As my hand searched my pocket for anything of value, it felt something round and smooth.
I pulled it out to discover a lovely glowing runestone. The deep, ancient, grooves seemed to speak to me, when my mind and memories found where this came from. I was taken aback, Chad bought this for me when we were in Southern Antion.
I was a bit desperate to wake Chad up, but I decided to get on with my studying for tomorrows class.
I continue reading my study book until I'm halfway finished, by sunrise only 4 chapters remained. By the time Chad woke up I was finished, a full 75 chapters, done in 1 night.
"Class will start in 2 Hours, thank you" Said a voice over the intercom speakers. Thomas woke up in a fit of groans and moans, which I believed normal for a 9 year old boy- I mean I had one as my brother.
Everyone took turns getting ready for the day, a man provided us with a plate of some unknown Antionion fruit , which tasted of cheese and maple syrup. Along with a bowl of sapphire sauce. Soon 2 Hours had passed, it was time for torture, also known as Necromancy Class.
"Hmph" I heard the teacher's voice mutter "Today you will be studying spirits, now get out your writing tools, I expect the best from you"
A confident smile spread across my face, I had the nerve to shout out "Easy as cake" but I held that inside my throat until after class. Before writing a beautiful story about a Spirit that escaped from it's jar in a spirit workshop, I was so proud of this creation that I forgot to put me name on it. I didn't realize until after the time for writing had ended. I heard the shuffling of papers in the darkness and then the words "Azura Jemal" my body froze with fear as I trembled over to the teacher's desk, which I could just see the outline of in the darkness..
"Azura.... See me after class" He said, I felt as if Chad would let words burst out of his mouth as quick as a frog's tongue flicks out to catch a fly. But no, the entire class stayed silence, there was a faint whistle in the corner, but nobody seemed to notice that. I sat down after the shuffle of students left the classroom, "Azura" said the teacher "You did amazing on your worksheet" "But I never put down my name!" I said in defense "Shouldn't I get minus points?" "Pffffft silly Azura, this isn't earth, we can tell if you wrote your name on your sheet and who wrote what, now I am so proud of you that I am letting you, and your roommates to skip next class. I'm hoping you will use it wisely to study"
It felt as if it was all a dream. Me, Alyssa, Chad and Thomas would get to plan out and study, then if there was extra time, plan out a way to defeat the Mythic Dawn.
Perfect. Everything was set up, a bittersweet ending to my time in Antion. Or so I thought.
I arrived back at the dormitory to see a blonde haired figure screaming at Chad.
Roman.
I didn't know what to say, Roman was holding a piece of paper in his hand, a long one, which he was reading aloud.
"And me and Keira will defeat the mythic dawn, we are already hiding in Magi Academy, learning new tatics, and I am afraid of their new guards. One of them is my former friend." He ended. "So!" Roman shouted with disgust "2 of you are outlaws here! You should be watching out for your heads!" All 3 of my friends were overcome with fear, before Chad abruptly shouted "Keira!"
Roman turned around and to his shock, I delivered a quick kick to his head. Before he dropped to the floor, unconscious.
Unfortunately, a deed like this would easily be detected, then my head would easily be chopped off and probably fed to the Ippa. Alyssa and Thomas had to come with us aswell, they were somewhat considered our 'accomplices'.
My commander senses came to me, as if I was a great general in some past-life. My mouth spewed words I did not know and yet seemed to grapple everything that was going on. More commands spewed as Roman was beginning to get back to his senses, so I wacked him in the head again. This time he began bleeding. I shoved him into the corner by the door.
"Quick! Everyone jump out of the window!" I said, and everyone had followed this set command, nearly as though they were blocks and sentences of code in a video game.
Thats when we all began running for the gate. Running toward freedom.
