That Blue Fire

Chapter 3: Exploring

I woke up to find Chad with a large plate of Caramel Bread with some type of sauce, A deep Sapphire Blue Sauce. The Sauce looked good some I dipped my Caramel Bread in it, I took a slow tiny bite- Whoa, Either Caramel Bread does not have Caramel in it or that sauce is extremely spicy because my tongue was on fire and I mean it literally. Blue flames had sprouted on my taste buds like they were wood and Chad got me a glass of water, the fire was easily put out but I still decided to eat the bread with the Sauce anyways, It got sweeter and sweeter each time and on my final bite is was the sweetest thing I'd ever tasted. I took a small nap and when I woke up I found Chad with two large backpacks- Surprisingly they where very light even though they held extremely heavy items. I was able to lift mine onto my back effortlessly. We both left the tavern and Joliata city quickly. Eventually Chad and I set up a tent in the darkest part of the forest, We quickly set up the campfire and went hunting for resources although halfway through Chad was stung by a bee! I swiftly pulled out my Green Apple Remedy and was about to spray it when Chad responded "No, don't its a scam- It doesn't work Keira!" he shouted. I stopped quickly "What does it do then?" I asked with shock "Its just flavor. It does nothing!" says Chad. I carry him back to camp, Where he shows me how to make a perfect remedy for him. I pour it on his bee sting and we go back to gathering. I navigate through unfamiliar terrain, With the help of Chad and a Nature Guide I find the special berries we need for food- "You know the full moon is in a week" Says Chad as we trudge through a river on our way back to camp "Yea?" I say "I have a Moongrass farm that earns me Money. Every 10 Stems of Moongrass I pick, I get 15 Nanamas."  he responds with "Nana- what?" I ask "Nanamas" Says Chad, with a smile on his face "Its the currency we use here in Antion" "Antion?" I ask- I'm extremely confused now "Antion is this world- This amazing magical world!" Shouts Chad. "Anyways, we have to set the fire up for tonight's Sun-Berry Soup." "Well thats easy. Can't you just do that with Magic?" I ask "No," Says Chad "Only Elders can create fires, and only for ceremonial purposes. Like Moonfire" "Oh, Looks like your very limited" I say.  "Yea" says Chad rubbing two rocks together to create a fire "I sometimes wish the world never had magic, Although the Dwarves do help a lot." 

The fire burns a bright blue, "Is making it blue a type of magic?" I ask "Exactly." says Chad "Coloring Magic" Darkness quickly falls. Crickets Chirp, Birds ruffle their feathers before bed and... AWHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. I back into the tent, "Was that a werewolf?!" I ask Chad "Nah" Said Chad "Its not a full moon, Probably just a pack of wild wolves" I loved Wolves as a Child and was excited to actually see one for the first time in my life, Hopefully they were better magical. Then I saw it, Emblazoned against the shining Moonlight was a wolf standing on a cliff. 

I waited and waited for it to come, but it stayed there until it curled up into a ball and fell asleep. The fire is a burning sapphire blue and the stew is a glowing yellow "Is it ready yet?" I ask "One more thing" says Chad, dropping in another sun berry. But something distracts me- Footsteps "Chad! Somebody's coming!" I whisper with worry. Chad quickly blows out the fire, then lights a lantern.

 "Who's there." Says Chad, his voice is rough and stern "I have a knife" and in fact he does, A few seconds after he says those words he brings out a shining sliver knife. "Whoa-" says a Voice "Wait- Chad is that you?" Chad blinks "Roman?" "Yes its me Chad!" Responds the voice, a boy about the same age as us emerged in the lantern light "Who is the lady standing behind you Chad?" Roman asks. "I'll talk later" Chad responds before relighting the fire to warm the soup "Ah, Sunberry Soup. That's what I was smelling!" Says Roman "Mind if I have some?" "Sure. I'm pretty sure we have lots" I say nervously "I'm Keira Robinson by the way" "Roman Hernandez" says Roman shaking my hand. "Me and Keira are trying to get to the Human Realms." Say Chad "That's where she's from" "Really?" Says Roman, perking up "Can I come too?" "Of course!" Says Chad "We'll just need to make the portal bigger."
