I rubbed my eyes to the early morning sunlight through my window, for once I actually thought it was true, that I was at home.
But the cheerful call of Aluxio saying it was time for breakfast was more like a grim warning from the heavens that I was going to become something's breakfast for me. But I groggily headed downstairs to a rather delicious meal of a classic I still remember from me and Chad's early days.
Caramel Bread, with a side of Sapphire Sauce.
Biting into the luscious bread and feeling the heat of the magic sauce brought back memories, at the time he was just a strange boy who led me to a cozy town, but now he was a friend. Probably even more than a friend... heck, we were now probably closer than siblings...
Chad looked at me, I was sure he felt the same way. I continued eating though, that's when I heard something that was too familiar to me, a voice I had heard at the beginning, middle and now, most likely, end of our adventure.
A beautiful opera song flooded into my ears, along with the sounds of a Yemboilant slapping its tongue onto the soil below. The others had still not come to the senses of this voice due to the delectable treat they were gobbling up. Thats when I abruptly interrupted their trance, speaking only one word "Run."
All 4 of them looked confused at me, and then after about 2 minutes of awkward silence. They came to realization of what was happening. They heard footsteps trudging toward the tower, then trudging away, and back again.
Someone had been spying on us, and they had figured out how to get in.
That person was none other than Roman Hernandez.
All 5 of us, including Aluxio, ran upstairs to the Prophecy chamber, Aluxio put a large barrier bubble on the cube that I had nearly attempted to touch before. Then we all waited in silence for who knows how long.
Thats when we heard it.
The door creaked open, we all held our breath in anticipation of the foe to come up the stairs.
Roman's voice interrupted the utter silence. "It's here, they're here, so is the universe cube. She'll fade away. Kill the others when you get the chance." It seemed as though he had brought along a group of other Mythic Dawn Members. Another voice said "Then, the universe is all ours? Earth will fade away?"
"All of eternity is ours, we're the creators of everything for now. As long as we obtain the universe cube." My breathing became heavy, I was going to fade to dust, the others were going to be killed. What was I supposed to do? Sit there and watch it all happen, then fade?
No.
I was going to fight back. I was going to defend my life, my utter existence in history. Nothing was going to happen to me. No, I didn't care if I got hurt, as long as I lived, and the others lived. I was going to fight.
That may have been a dire mistake for me. I could hear their footsteps climbing up the long staircase to the room. All of a sudden something distracted me, a large splat sound made me turn my head to the other side of the room, a Yemboilant's carcass was hanging against the window, it was torn to shreds. Blood splattered everywhere, such a very disturbing and violent scene, but I tried to hold my feelings back for the poor Yemboilant. I only wanted 1 thing right now, Earth to be safe, for nothing to be destroyed, nothing to fade, nothing to die.
I could see the top of Romans head, his blonde hair in wisps everywhere. He was getting closer. Soon I could see his face, his eyes a deep brown, his hair now long as mine. He almost looked like me, with my blonde hair just being a bit longer.
I charged toward him and kicked him into the wall. Shattering the window, the rest of the gang of Crimson Robed Delinquents tried to rescue him. But I was able to push them away, Roman soon had a bloody nose and said "Keira... spare me...I only tried to protect you. I was just a spy... spare me, I'm on your side."
Being my own soft-hearted self, I loosened my grasp from his dark robe, now stained with blood. Thats when he said one word "Thanks," Pushed me to the ground, and headed for the Universe Cube, I whimpered only 3 words, hoping someone on my side would hear me "Help... me... please..." Roman was about to touch the cube when Chad ran out from behind the prophecy shelf, and shoved Roman into the cube.
I knew I would feel my body fading in a few seconds, even Chad betrayed me.
I waited, watching what I thought would be the last thing I saw.
Roman being pushed into the cube.
But no. As soon as he touched the protective bubble, it was not me who turned to dust.
It was Roman-
