*Ping* The microwave went off. I carefully took the mac and cheese out with a dish towel. I inhaled the amazing, cheesy smell as I pulled the plastic lid off of the container. 𝘔𝘪𝘤𝘳𝘰𝘸𝘢𝘷𝘦𝘥 𝘧𝘰𝘰𝘥, 𝘰𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘪𝘯. I sighed and walked into my living room with my food on a plate. I plopped down on the couch and turned the TV on with the remote. 𝘐 𝘸𝘰𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘺 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘨𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘰𝘯 𝘓𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘢 𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘪𝘯. I frowned at the thought of my closest friend being attacked. It has been two weeks since Monica was exposed and since Linda has been receiving hate, on TV and even in real life. People have been TPing and Egging her house, shouting things at her when she leaves the house and even sending her death threats. But I was there. I was there when she needed me the most. I supported her and even understood why she did what she did. But I didn't look at it in the political way. I looked at it as a decision that has changed her life, as well as many others. But not exactly in a good way.

I turned the TV off. 𝘐𝘵'𝘴 𝘢𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘢𝘮𝘦. I couldn't listen to one more bad thing being said about Linda. It's so cruel. I stood up, eyes glassy, and walked into the kitchen to wash my plate. As I was drying my hands with a dish cloth, I heard the phone ringing. 𝘞𝘩𝘰 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘣𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘦 𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦? I shuffled over and picked up the phone. "Hello, who is this?" I heard static and also very faint but frantic breathing on the other line. "(y/n) it's me, Linda." She sounded different. She sounded scared. "Hey what's up, you sound off?" I started to fear the worst. 𝘏𝘢𝘴 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘸𝘯 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘵 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘰𝘳 𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘥 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘢𝘯𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘥𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵? "They did it again, (y/n). I- I don't know what to do." She sounded scared but also sad, eventually sobbing on the other end. "Linda, don't move. I'm on the way." I heard her sniffle and agree before I hung up and rushed to put my jacket on and leave the house. I got in my car and started it with no hesitation. 𝘐𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘧𝘶𝘤𝘬𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦, 𝘐'𝘭𝘭 𝘬𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮. I tightened my grip on the steering wheel before relaxing and focusing fully on the road.

After a very dangerously fast journey, I arrived at Linda's house. I jumped out of my car and ran to the door, reaching the key over my shoulder to lock the car. I didn't even knock. I just opened the door and slammed it shut as I rushed to find her. The lights where all off and an eerie silence hung in the air. "Linda?" My voice echoed throughout the house. Instead of an answer, I heard a whimper coming from the living room. That's when I noticed her. Linda. She was sat on the floor, curled up in a ball and silently crying to herself. I don't even think she noticed me. I ran over and kneeled down in front of her, placing my hand on her shoulders. She flinched and opened her eyes tensely, but immediately calmed down seeing it was just me. "(y/n)?" She had mascara down her face and she looked so tired, like she hadn't slept in days. "Yeah, what is it?" She looked into my eyes deeply. All I could see was pain in hers. "Please don't leave me, I don't wanna be alone tonight." She sniffled and I had tears in my eyes. I pulled her in for a hug and she hugged back just as tightly. I whispered in her ear. "𝙄'𝙡𝙡 𝙣𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪." She nodded her head and we remained in the hug for minutes.

We broke the hug and I helped her stand up and I walked her to the couch. We sat down, I had my arm still around her waist, and I began to question her. "What happened Linda?" She adjusted her glasses that sat gently on the bridge of her nose and turned to me. "I got another death threat," She looked down at her lap and I frowned. "It's on the table." She briefly lifted her arm to point but dropped it as if she was ashamed of it. I leaned forward, not sure if reading it was a good idea, and took the folded note that sat on a magazine on the table. I opened it and read the words written with pen in the middle of the page. 'Die bitch' My eyes filled with tears and I closed them tightly, allowing the tears to fall on the paper. 𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘣𝘦 𝘴𝘰 𝘮𝘦𝘢𝘯? I turned to see Linda looking at me, she looked confused. "(y/n), Why are you crying?" I tiled my head and frowned harder at her. "Why would someone do this to you? You're a good person and I understand some people might not agree with your decision but-" I looked down at my hands. Linda intertwined our fingers and gently squeezed my hands in a reassuring way. "You don't deserve this." I whispered and another tear fell, landing on our connected hands. She pulled me in for a hug and I hugged back meaningfully, silently crying.

She pulled out of the hug and placed her hands on my biceps. "You're too sweet, (y/n)." I lightly chuckled and shook my head, averting my gaze from her eyes to my lap as I blushed. "No Linda, I'm not. I'm doing what any friend would do." I looked back up into her eyes. God, I loved her eyes. She had dark brown, mesmerising eyes that you could get lost in. They made me feel safe. "No, you're wrong. No one likes me, except you. You have been here the whole time. You have supported me through everything. You were there when I needed you the most." A tear streamed down her face and I cupped her cheek, brushing it away with my thumb. She seemed to blush in the dark light. The room was only partially illuminated by the moonlight and the blue TV screen. I moved my hand on her neck and connected our foreheads, looking deeply into her eyes. She returned my loving gaze. "It's no problem. I care about you, Linda. I care about you a lot. I would never let something happen to you. You mean too much to me and if something bad happened to you-" I felt my eyes burn as tears arose once again and fell down my face. Linda cupped my face and wiped the tears away with her thumbs. "I would never forgive myself." She smiled at me but didn't say anything. Our eyes were still connected until Linda's darted to my lips and then back to my face. She slowly moved closer and gently connected our lips in a loving kiss. It sent shivers through my whole body. It caught me off guard but instinctively I kissed her back. 𝘐 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘯𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘩𝘦𝘳.
