Isn't time a funny thing?
I mean, one minute I'm enjoying breakfast with Kala, making small-talks, waving at people I know, complaining about the fact that there's no plant milk in such an advanced college.
Environment is in.
And the next minute I'm being dragged away from food and friends and into some unexplored corridors leading to some mysterious places where the infamous William starts telling me that I was chosen to be head of the student council of PAAZ.
"The reason why you're here today is because you've been chosen to be part of the council, you need to be aware of what it means and what it implies." William starts talking but I can't help noticing that I am alone in that room, a room which should be filled with all the council members... "of course you need to keep your grades up and-"
"Pardon me?" I cut him off which seems to surprise him.
"Y-yes?"
"If it's a council...why am I alone here?" I might not know much about the topic but I believe the point of councils in general is to gather different people's opinions, to have them come to a consensus.
"The Head boy is...er...not fond of company, he said only one person would be enough and since you have very good recommendations from your former teachers he chose you," so it's a sort of alone council huh?
But why are they giving me the job out of the blue? Not gonna lie I'm a pretty good student and all but this seems quite...rushed. Shouldn't we elect a council or shouldn't they at least for me to actually run for the job before offering it to me on a silver platter?
I don't know what's going on but I think it means they're giving me power...which is weird after the poor first impression I made yesterday specifically because- oh wait...I know what's going on.
"So where's my office?"
"Oh...you don't have one, we all work in the head boy's office. It's a sort of...HQ if you will" I should have seen this coming...
"Then I have to report something right now" I say after signing the contract, that's it, I'm legit, I have power and i'm gonna use it now.
I walk out of the room, followed closely by William, walk across the corridor until I reach the study.
And then I barge into his study, slamming the doors open, "knock knock". The Head boy slowly takes his eyes off his paper and looks at us with a slight frown.
"What is the meaning of-" I cut him off and fold my arms across my chest. My dad once told me that a good posture is crucial during negotiations.
"I'm here to claim my true responsibilities as the unique member of the council, first I want a desk, I also want every student in difficulty's file and..." then I think about what Kala told me the other day, "and almond milk at the cafeteria, some of us can't drink cow milk" that last request makes him cock an eyebrow.
Okay, to be honest this was based on a whim but still, more milk diversity for heaven's sake!
"Is that all?" He asks, putting his files away, keeping his eyes on what he is doing rather than me. Before I can answer he adds, "I find you pretty bold Miss Abberline, you seemed very polite yesterday when I found you sleeping in my office." His eyes are back on what he was working on before I got here.
"Well I found you pretty rude yesterday and I remained quiet once, not twice." I stand tall and proud in front of him, he wanna act like an alpha male? Very well, but I'm not one you can tame easily. "And I know why you chose me to be the unique member of the council," I place my hands on my hips, staring at him sternly.
