The week went smoothly and today is Saturday, the D-day. I'm gonna meet Tom's family for his mother's birthday and tonight I'll go to the ball. Tom has been slightly cold to me because of my decision but I don't care, I'm not letting Sasha and the others down.

We're back to normal, no more talks in the middle of the night where he caresses my cheek and speaks softly as he looks me in the eyes, no more acting weird, it's just been the cold Head Boy and his bossy attitude.

The boy is a freaking rollercoaster anyway, one day he's nice, the other he's mad at me for no reason, the problem for him is that I enjoy roller coasters and I'm gonna ride him like-...

That came out wrong.

I'm just a bit confused, we're both interested in each other but I'm still not over my ex and Tom doesn't look like he's ready to be anything other than a block of ice. He made it clear that this...attraction he feels for me, it's not what he wants, it's not part of his plans.

So...what now?

He's been silent during the whole drive, only glancing at me every now and then and as we enter the huge property of his family I suddenly remember that he gave up on all of this to be independent, this huge mansion, this huge garden, these beautiful cars and I haven't seen the interior yet...he's brave, or stupid depending on your point of view.

He parks and I notice a lot of other cars, is it a wedding? Why are there so many people?

"My mom loves to invite a lot of people over, and she hates it when families grow apart so she gathers us as much as possible," Tom groans, "and obviously she invited her friends too...she has a lot of friends," He shudders and I giggle discreetly, this sort of gathering must be a real nightmare for him.

"My family is probably gonna ask you a lot of questions so to make it simple, don't let them think that I'm in need of money or company or anything really and if they ask why you're here...just say that you're my assistant," Assistant?

"Why can't I say I'm your friend?" I ask, I'm not his assistant, what's gonna happen in there? He's gonna ask me for a drink and back massages? Hell no!

"No!" He raises his voice almost in panic, "don't tell them that," he says before exiting his car.

"Why not?" I follow him.

"Miss Abberline," he warns.

"Tell me why? I don't want to act like your assistant I'm not an assistant I don't want to become an assistant and I'll never be an ass-"

"I never introduced any girl to my family!" He snaps. "If you say you're my friend they're gonna think that you and I are...whatever we are," he says it like it's some business matter and suddenly I wonder, is anything not a business matter to him?

"By 'whatever' you mean just friends," I tease and he throws me an amused gaze.

"Don't fool yourself, Miss Abberline, I always get what I want in the end," he nods confidently before resuming his walking. This...ice cube! With a charming face and oooh what is that? A real charming butt that sways when he- stop! Focus!

He made me come so that I may act like I'm his assistant? That damn living icicle!

When the door opens, a valet bows at the sight of Tom, "Sir, welcome home, may I take your coat?" he asks politely and Tom only acknowledge him with a nod as he hands him his coat

"Miss," He then bows as he sees me and I hand him my coat too.

"Thank you," I smile before following Tom inside.

"Tommy!" I hear a squeal and tense, Tom doesn't like squeals. A beautiful brunette girl with light blue eyes around our age jumps on him. "I missed you so much!" She hugs him tightly.
