"It might seem hard at first, but it's really not that hard." you heard the disbelief ringing in Ekko's voice as he watched your extreme clumsiness. You could see the suppressed smile on his lips as he was sat along the walls. Around you there were more and more people with each passing minute, all greatly entertained by your 'learning process'.

Even Scar was there, who'd been much friendlier towards you since you healed his face. On his shoulder, a little girl, just like him, was sitting and you wondered whether she was his daughter or his sister - they were on their own anyways, just the two of them...

As you looked around yourself tiredly rubbing your aching bottom, your eyes jumped from face to face. You kept wondering what would have happened to these people if it weren't for Ekko... probably they would have met the same fate as you - alone, only a shadow of a real living being, miserably trying to survive from day to day...

Your eyes eventually met Ekko's and you forced yourself back onto the hoverboard. It was already turned on, so you had to climb on it, and when you finally managed to stay on the device you heard the boy's instructions.

"That's it, now you just have to lean forward." He said, his arms crossed in front of his chest. He forgot to mention though, that you only had to lean forward a little - instead, you moved so suddenly that of course you fell - the hoverboard flying behind you and you arrived right onto your chest. You felt pain strike your lungs and tongue immediately and right after, the familiar metallic taste in your mouth.

"Ouch..." you massaged your chin this time as you sat up. You heard laughter and chuckles all around you and if it weren't for your pains that occupied your mind, you probably would have blushed in your embarrassment. "I bit my tongue..." You mumbled sadly to yourself as you searched for Ekko among the others, but when your eyes fell to the place he had been sitting before, you just saw an empty seat.

"You okay?" You then heard his voice coming from your side. He was standing next to you reaching his arm to help you up, which you gratefully accepted. You saw a playful shine in his brown eyes when your gaze met his for a second.

"I'm fine... my dignity is not so much, though..." you groaned as you stood up. You heard Ekko laugh by your side as you massaged your chin again. "Can't I just use the ladders?" You turned to the boy as you asked it but to your surprise, he was standing on the hoverboard himself now.

"There are a few places here that you can't reach on a ladder. Come. I'll show you." He said simply, still holding your hand to be able to help you on the device one more time. You hesitated for a second but then you gave yourself in. As you climbed, he pulled you up and when you were finally able to stand again, you felt one of his arms tightly hug your waist.

You also felt him pulling your body closer to his, and the warmness of his presence being so close to you completely stunned you. You felt your face going absolutely red as he started talking.

"Your better leg is always on the front because that's what you pilot with, the other one is close to the pedal - if you step on it once it starts the hoverboard and a second step will shoot down the engine. Good if you need to break quickly or maneuver but you will also fall once the momentum's gone, so careful with that." He explained but you couldn't exactly pay attention to his words. All your mind was able to concentrate on was his arm around your waist and his breath against your ear...

"...we are going for a ride so you'll understand better." you heard his last sentence before he leaned forward, pushing your torso as well - you only had time to let out a small scream as you felt your stomach falling towards your feet.

You felt tears filling both of your eyes as the leading wind hurled by your face and if it weren't for Ekko and his tight hold, you were sure you'd already fallen to meet your end. You had to shut your eyes to fight both your panic and the agoraphobia you hadn't even known you had before and tried to pull yourself as small on the hoverboard as possible.

"I hate this!" you shouted against the wind, your whole body shaking, but all the answer you got was just a chuckle. And then suddenly, the rising finally stopped. You flew forward, you felt that, but not upwards finally. You still had to swallow back your insides...

"You can open your eyes, you know," Ekko said, and even though your gut kept telling you it was better not to even see how high you might be - you did as the boy said. And how right you were for opening your eyes. You gasped when you saw you were flying around the crown of the tree, close to the topside. You were so close you could have touched the leaves if you were brave enough to reach your arms out and when you dared to look up above you, you could see it...

You had never seen the sky before.

It was blue and so clear you felt like if you flew high enough you could have jumped and bath in the huge ocean above you. You wanted to say how beautiful it was but no sound came from your throat.

"Pretty cool, huh?" Ekko asked who'd been watching your reaction from the corner of his eyes. You heard his voice coming from so close to your right ear that his breath tickled the skin on your neck. Your whole body got covered in goosebumps as the hotness of his breath contrasted with the cold air around you. You couldn't see Ekko noticing your body's reaction but he did. Even though he didn't give voice to it, he couldn't completely suppress the smile that lay along his lips.

"It's amazing!" you answered and you started feeling safe with the boy by your side - your limbs loosened up and your back slowly straightened. You carefully reached your arms out to touch the leaves by you and where your fingers brushed the crown of the tree, firelights flew up, igniting the path of your hand.

When your back was completely straight - you felt Ekko's hold tighten around you - you reached both of your arms out and gave yourself in. As you closed your eyes again, concentrating on all the feelings your body felt at that moment, warmness filled your chest. You didn't know why and how and who or what it healed at that moment, but you felt your powers came to life and you didn't care.

You had to admit silently that flying wasn't even that bad - probably because the young firelight made sure you were safe and you still were sure you wouldn't use a hoverboard again soon if it wasn't a must. But it really wasn't that bad.

You flew another round and after that, the boy directed the device towards the ground. You were happy to finally step onto solid ground again but also felt a strange kind of disappointment deep inside your chest when Ekko let go of you.

As you watched the kids cheer around you and even Scar shot a telling smile (you couldn't quite understand at that moment), you felt okay.

For the first time in a very long while your mind managed to forget about your problems.

And you really felt okay.
