He probably teaches everyone this way. It wasn't just a you exclusive thing! Or the clumsier ones at least, you were sure...

You sat at your windowsill, looking at a lone firelight approaching your window as your mind wandered back to the hoverboard. You immediately blushed when you thought about the closeness of Ekko, the way his breath brushed against the skin on your neck and arms pulled you closer to him...

" Damn it! You are probably thinking more about it than you should..." you mumbled to yourself temperamentally and stood up, scaring the firelight away from your window. You looked after the leaving insect sadly.

It was late at night already but you still couldn't sleep. The whole place was dark all around you, except for the bugs and a few strings of lights hanging all around the tree. You had tried to fall asleep for long hours now, but no matter how hard you wanted to think about something else, you couldn't tear your mind away from the happenings of the afternoon.

You stepped to your door and after taking the biggest breath, you stepped outside your room. It was time for you to get some air... Maybe a little walk would help you fall asleep finally. You looked at the hoverboard leaned against the wall by your door considering whether you wanted to use it or not.

"Nah..." you hushed the thought away and walked to the rope ladder instead, to climb down. Even though you could heal much faster than anyone else, you still felt pain and you weren't fond of breaking your bones.

In the complete silence, you heard your footsteps being much louder than they actually were as you stepped onto the wooden pallets. You didn't want to wake up anyone and you didn't want to explain yourself...

You climbed down, then silently walked to face the enormous tree and sat down, hugging your knees as you looked up.

Ever since you got here, you felt that you couldn't take in this sight in front of you enough. You knew that if you had the time and peace, you could just sit there and watch it for long days without a break. By this tree, you felt different. You felt like it was charging you up as your eyes kept trying to memorize every single part of it.

As you looked up you saw your window, the weak light of the candle you lighted to be able to see showed that you were still awake. You thought you were the only one at this late hour, but close to the top, there was another window through which you could see light coming from.

Maybe it was Ekko's window... being the leader, he probably had to take care of a lot of things and had little time for sleep. You thought about your conversation from earlier, still inside the dark little room and you remembered the way he talked about his childhood friend.

You could see under all the layers of anger that it still deeply hurt him. Must have been horrible to see someone lose themselves in front of you, unable able to help them... Sometimes you wished you could heal feelings as well...

You thought about how would have you turned out if, instead of the firelights turning up at the warehouse and giving you a new chance, it had been someone else, someone from the underworld of Zaun who'd found you - and gave you a different purpose...

Your thoughts preoccupied you so much, you didn't notice the footsteps approaching you. Only when he sat down next to you, you noticed Ekko's presence and you jumped a little as he startled you.

"Can't sleep?" he asked simply, looking down at you from his own height.

"How did you find out?" you replied playfully as you smiled at him and he chuckled a little.

"Fair enough..."

You tore your eyes away from him to look back at the tree because you felt your pulse rise dangerously high. You were glad it was dark because otherwise, he could have seen your face blush like crazy. He sat so close to you again, that you felt the heat coming from his whole body.
