"Y/N, what are you doing here?" Ekko asked as he closed the door behind himself. You used the time when he didn't look your way to put the drawing back to the table and stepped a step back. You cursed your inability to stop blushing when he looked at you again.

He seemed so tired... And you came here to bother him on top of it all...

But wait!

You didn't just come here - you had the crystals in your backpack! The boy started walking towards you, his right hand massaging his neck, and you felt the excited tremble of your stomach. So many days had passed since the last time, he was really close to you...

"I - I don't want to bother... I was just out, at the scrap metal dump all day and - "the words just burst out of you with each of his steps he got closer." - and you won't believe what I've found..." you took the bag off your back and wanted to open it when, out of nowhere, Ekko grabbed your wrist with one hand, got your backpack with his other (only to throw it to the ground), and before you could have blinked, he pulled you into a hug.

You felt his weight against your body as he tiredly leaned onto your shoulders and after you could gather yourself from your surprise, your arms automatically wrapped around his back to hug him back. You melted into his presence soon after, thinking how damn much you missed this exact warmness of him. You felt like his hug could heal you just as much as you could heal others...

"What the hell are you talking about?" Ekko mumbled against your neck, making your whole body get covered in goosebumps, as his hot breath brushed your skin. "You are not bothering me." he said and hugged you tighter. "Gosh, it's so good you're here..." when he said that little sentence, your heartbeat got so fast and loud, that you were sure, the boy could also feel it.

"I just... wish I had a little more time." he sighed tiredly and you leaned back to look at him. Under his eyes the dark circles were more visible than ever in the afternoon lights, and you could see his brows had been furrowed so much recently, that it was starting to become their natural position. You were worried if he overdid himself for much longer, he'd break down soon...

"Ekko... have you been sleeping?" you asked as your hand reached up to stroke the soft wrinkles between his brows. You were careful not to smudge the hourglass painted along his face. He closed his eyes for your touch and, just for a second, yours longingly drifted to his lips. Damn, how much you wanted to...

"Of course not..." he chuckled, opening his eyes to lock his gaze with yours again. "The last time I had a proper sleep was with you. Maybe you should sleep with me more." he joked with that cheeky smile on his handsome face, that always stirred your insides, and for the thought, something moved inside you.

"Well, if you'd actually spent the night here once..." you shrugged, trying to act like you were joking as well, but your words made him a little more serious again.

"The chaos is huge out there." he sighed. "Enforcers are almost as aggressive as they were 15 years ago... It was the council Jinx blew up, right in the middle of a session..." you could hear his anger on his voice and you let go of him to have a better look at his face. "We were so god damn close..." he said as he sat down onto his desk behind him and you honestly didn't know what to say. You knew that, whatever word would left your mouth now, he'd think that it was his responsibility to save everyone anyway...

You just wished you could help more. That there was anything you could do to make his job easier...

"Oh, my god, I'm an idiot!" you slapped your own forehead with such a force you were sure it would redden soon. The crystals! You almost forgot about the crystals... You immediately turned your back to Ekko and crouched down next to your backpack.

"What?" Ekko furrowed his brows again, surprised by your sudden - seemingly out of nowhere - reaction.

"I come because I wanted to show you something!" you said excitedly but the little "oh" you heard behind your back, as your hands searched for the shards, sounded a little too disappointed for some reason. "No, I swear it will be worth it..." you mumbled, reaching deeper and deeper into your bag.

As you searched, you took out the watches and the spare parts and put them onto the ground, to be easier to find what you were looking for.

Ekko got off his desk and sat down next to you, taking a broken watch into his gloved hands.

"A watch?" He asked and you stopped to look at him as you scolded yourself internally for putting it on the ground, right in front of the boy. You felt your ears warming up as you started explaining yourself.

"I heard that your previous one got wrecked and I... I wanted to fix up a new one for you." you shrugged and added: "It was meant to be kind of a surprise." you looked at him and saw him smiling to himself as he still played with the broken pocket watch in his hands and you felt the warmness inside your chest again.

"You know how to fix up watches?" Ekko asked.

"Just a little bit." your eyes lingered on his face a little too long before returning to your bag again. "Back home I always had to do the repair works - my brother taught me how a lot off stuffs worked. We had this one clock that always kept breaking down, you know..." you shrugged, remembering how that clock used to be your best friend when you were eagerly waiting for your family to finally come home.

But then you finally felt the pieces under your fingers.

"Here, look!" you said, reaching out the little blue shards towards Ekko. "I found these today!" you said excitedly and you saw the surprise on the boy's face when his eyes fell onto your palm.
