When Xena woke she thought nothing of her mother's cold spot.
Amethyst was always up early.
She heaved herself to her paws,her legs still tired from yesterday.
She walked out of her den,pausing to drink in the warm scents of the forest.
Suki approached her,his head dipped in a friendly matter.
"Hi Xena!"He smiled.
"Hi Suki! What should we do today?"She wondered.
Suki tilted his head,deep in thought.
"I was thinking You,Me,Terra and Kokoro could go for a walk in the woods!mabye find bugs and other cool stuff."
Xena's eyes brightened at the thought of an adventure.
"Yes please!Amethyst most likely won't mind!"She called over her shoulder,racing towards Ghost's den.
Suki followed right behind her.
Xena stuck her head in the den.
"Naya!"She barked a greeting.
Naya turned her black head to face her,her eyes shining.
"Oh! Good morning Xena,what can I do for you?"
"Can Terra and Kokoro come with me and Suki to the woods for a bit?"Xena begged.
Naya laughed"Of course."Her eyes twinkling.
"Terra! Kokoro! Xena is here!"Naya called into a separate hole.
Two small howls indicated they were coming.
"I'll wait outside?"Xena offered.
"No wait,"Naya said quickly"I want to talk to you for a moment."She added,more softly.
Xena sat beside Naya,cocking her head to look at the graceful black wolf.
"Kokoro seems very fond of you..,"Naya started slowly.
Xena felt her cheeks heat up."Y-yes?"
"Don't break his heart please!"Naya blurted.
Xena could only stare.
"He only has you and Terra left,Ghost and I have been terrible parents to him."She sighed,lowering her head.
Xena nodded slowly,unsure of what her feelings towards Kokoro were.
"I'll do my best to make him happy..for you Naya."She gave a small smile.
"Thank you Xena.You are so very precious."She licked her across the ear affectionately.
A second later Terra came out of the hole,that must be her sleeping spot.
"Hi Xena!"Terra giggled,rubbing against her side.
"Hi bestie!"Xena grinned,tackling Terra to the ground and chewing her ears.
Kokoro finally poked his head out of the hole.
"Sorry I took so long."He grumbled slightly,sitting beside them.
Xena got up,shaking her fur to try to smooth it down.
Terra got up too,and bounced outside,her tail swishing around.
"Have fun!"Naya called.
Kokoro glared at her,before following Xena outside.
Suki was waiting for them.
"Let's go!"He hollered,getting to his paws.
They all started rushing towards the entrance.
