Ava's POV
It's around 7 PM in the evening. The rogues should have attacked by now. My thoughts were interrupted by a growl at the door.
"Right on cue." I joke. Kaden hums in agreement.
I take out a silver dagger and Kaden takes out a gun loaded with silver bullets.
None of the pack members expected it, so their heads snapped at the door and growls filled the air, but of course, no one did anything. Probably Alpha's orders. Too bad I don't follow him!
I charged at the door, bursting it off it's hinges, to reveal an army of wolves. The leader, Vikram, I'm guessing, is probably in the middle somewhere, too scared to show himself or actually fight. I decided to take the fight to him. He may be in the cover of trees, but we have the advantage.
Jumping from tree to tree, I finally spot his wolf. As suspected, doing nothing and letting others take the hit for him. I wonder how he managed to get these many followers in the first place.
He did not suspect it one bit when I dropped from the tree and plunged the dagger into his leg, making sure he couldn't move. I pinned him on the ground using one of the knives I kept in my pocket and walked to face him. I smirked.
He just had a fearful expression on his face. Suits him. I take a few steps back before locking eyes with him for a second before pulling my hand back and hitting him right next to the heart, letting him bleed to death. None of his 'followers' will come help him. I'll make sure of it.
Rogues instantly stopped fighting, seeing their leader dead. They let out a howl of... happiness, before fleeing the scene. However, some of the warriors growled at them, making them stop in their tracks.
I left my scent on the target - marking my kill, before joining the rogues to go unnoticed
Adam emerged from the crowd. "You have a choice to join my pack, as long as you pledge not to harm them. If you choose not to, you may leave. You have two minutes to decide. If you aren't on any one of the sides, you will be hunted down by my warriors and trackers and put into the cells. Is that clear?!" He announced.
Some of the rogues ran away, some of them came onto the other side of Adam, signaling their loyalty to him. I stepped onto his side. By the end of two minutes, there was no one in between but the now slowly dying body of Vikram. John emerged from the crowd. He did something I never thought he'd do, especially over Vikram.
He cried.
"I'll miss you, dad. Ava, I know you're there somewhere, but you didn't have to kill him. He's still our dad. He still stayed with us whenever someone bullied us. He was still there to teach you to cycle. He was still there through most of our lives. Sure, he went off the hinges after mom... died, but he was still there till before then. What you did wasn't right. It wasn't. " He ended, his voice cracking.
"I'm sorry." I whispered. Kaden gave me a sad, reassuring smile from the crowd. I returned it.
John's head snapped to my sound. "No. No, It's not possible." He whispered more to himself, shaking his head as if trying to get a voice out of his head.
I put down my disguise and let my scent out. Adam's eyes turned pitch black, looking at me. "Mate." He said, rushing over to me, embracing me and burying his nose in my neck.
"Mine. Only mine." he whispered. "Okay, don't take it too far now, Adam." I replied teasingly. He growled. I just chuckled.
"I kept my promise. I'll be there." I said when he let me go. He was still keeping his arms around my waist, but he was behind me.
