Ava's POV
It's currently 12:00 in the night, and we - all the girls and me - are sitting on a bed, talking about our mates.
"Hey, speaking of our mates, you guys wanna give them a scare?" Emma suggested. Everyone nodded excitedly. I did too. I'd love to see the look on Adam's face when I catch him off guard.
An evil smile spread across my face. Everyone started making plans.
I knew exactly what would make it better. Maybe the scent of blood in the room, with everyone else's scents old. Now that would give them a scare. I pitched in, sharing my idea, and they all accepted it.
We got to work.
First, we'd rub our scents everywhere, and go to another room - preferably a guest room. One which no one will expect. I let out an Earth-shattering yell, almost like a battle cry before giggling and joining the rest in the room.
As expected, the guys jump from their places in front of the TV and run toward the direction of the scream.
There was just one thing missing, though. I changed my eye color and pulled out a knife, something the girls didn't expect. "Well, you guys did well. It was hard pretending to be on your side, I must admit. However, let's just get this over with." I said, getting that cold, crazy look in my eyes to settle in once more.
Adam's POV
I heard a very loud battle cry. Not just any - it was Ava's. I immediately stood up and so did the guys. They all followed me to the room where the girls were.
I knocked on the door, hoping that was just for fun, and not an actual battle cry. When I didn't get any response, I strained my ears to listen for a sound coming from the room, but found none.
Oh no. What's happening? I panicked and burst the door open. I could smell blood. It was clear as day. Kaden's eyes darkened at the smell of blood, but he took a deep breath before calming down. This wasn't fake. "Ava?" I called.
"That's strange..." Kaden murmured. His eyes widened in realization of something, but he quickly hid his expression. "What is it?" I asked.
He looked at me, his expression cold and distant. "Nothing." He shrugged off.
I nodded slightly, not believing it, but knowing that if it were important, Kaden would tell. I trusted him enough.
I tried following my mate's scent, but I couldn't find it. The only scents in here were that of the girls and it seemed old. As if they weren't here.
Feeling movement behind me, I turned around, to see a shadow move past the open door.
I dashed towards it to find the 'shadow' moving quickly around the pack house. It came to a stop a few meters before me, facing me. I couldn't see it's face, but I knew that it was staring right back at me.
I went after it, and it stood there, unmoving. I lifted my hand to take off the piece of cloth that covered their face, to find out their identity, but they dodged. I kept moving to get it, and they kept dodging.
We continued till they backed into a wall. I smirked. I put my hands on either side. I was about to pick the cloth off when they twirled out of the way again. I groaned in frustration. What the fuck are they trying to do?!
"Who are you?!" I ordered. They didn't say anything. For a bit I was confused, but then my mate's scent hit me like a wave. Ava? What the hell?
She just took her mask off and laughed. "You should have seen your face!" She managed between laughs.
