Ava's POV

It's been a while since the day we encountered that girl and her little group. She left and must have relayed the message to Boss by now, but I hadn't heard from him. I can still link him, but I never link him first. It's always him who starts the conversation.

But now, it's been too long. I think I should link him this time. I will find out what the heck he needs me for. 

Boss. I call out to him.

Ah. I was wondering when you'd contact me.

Why would you wait? I'm pretty sure you're normally the one that contacts me.

My cheeks flush a deep pink, but I quickly hide it.

I hesitate before replying. Sure. I'll see when I can come.

No, I think you're the one who doesn't remember. You told me that you'd leave me alone for a month.

Oh god. How am I supposed to explain this to Adam? And will Kaden be alright? What about his mate? How about John? And my friends? 

I sigh. There is no way I can face them. No way I'll be able to explain the whole situation to them!

Well, call me a coward, but I think I am allowed to be a little scared right now. I have only one option left.

Adam's POV

I wake up the next morning to an empty bed. 

I frown. I could have sworn Ava was here with me when I went to sleep. Instead of her, though, I find myself cuddling a pillow. 

I push it away and get up. I look around frantically until I see a note by the door. Oh COME ON! I'm getting tired of these notes from Ava!

Hey, Adam.

I know you're tired of these notes, but don't worry. This time I'm not telling you to stay away. Although, I will tell you not to look for me because I'm perfectly fine, and I'm just away on some business. I've taken Kaden with me, and don't worry, he won't do anything. He found his mate in your pack, and he's marked. We'll be back by tomorrow.
