Ava's POV
I wake up the next morning with a sore shoulder. Now why would that be? Oh right. We marked each other.
A giddy smile comes up to my face when I think of it. I'm so happy!
My mood, however, falls when I realized just what happened. Shit. I just let Adam mark me. And I'm still with boss. Shit. Shit. My whole life is falling apart. Fuck.
I look up and see Adam 'asleep'. I can hear his heart thumping faster and faster, as if anticipating something.
Good morning I say through the newly-created link.
Good morning, beautiful. I hear from his side, as a smile stretches across his face before turning to a frown. What's on your mind? He asks, clearly being able to read my feelings clearly, if not my thoughts.
I give him a small peck on the lips and get off, but he pulls me back, captivating me in a long, passionate one. I guess that works, too.
He finally pulled away. "What's up?" He asks. I giggle at his worry. "It's nothing." I lie.
We both got up and I put my top back on. Before that, I couldn't help but look in the bathroom mirror. The puncture marks of his canines had faded. All that was left now was the mark - a beautiful, crescent moon, with lines and dots raining down from it.
It has my mouth hanging open. It's so beautiful. How could I ever regret the marking? How could I ever regret this beautiful claim on my shoulder blade?
(A/N just a reference as to what the mark looks like.)
I lightly touched it - it was beautiful. I turned around to see Adam. He was staring at the mark. "It's beautiful." He whispered. I nodded. I looked at his - it looked the same as mine. My guess - it probably signifies that we both are equals, and are mated to each other.
"Your mark looks perfect on me." Adam praises. "Yours is no less." I say, breathlessly.
His eyes darken. He's probably thinking about what happened last night. My cheeks redden and I look away pulling on my top. I give him his shirt and he puts it on as well.
I can't help the giddy smile on my face as I make my way downstairs. Everyone stops what they are doing and look at me. "Congratulations!" Emma squeals. I just smile.
"What?!" John makes his way to me, his eyes scrutinizing. "Stop being such a big brother, John!" I scold him. "Jeez! What is your problem if I'm marked?!"
He retreats, his eyes still scrutinizing the mark. I roll my eyes. He'll never stop. He doesn't have to play that 'big brother role', but for some reason, even though he doesn't actually feel that way, he does. I know for a fact that inside, he's happy for me, and that's all I want.
