Ayu liked school. He got to do all sorts of fun activities and play games and be with his friends. He was in a good mood just going in since Aki dropped him off and let him play music in the car. Once he reached there he grinned at Aki "Bye-bye Aki!"
"Bye kiddo. Take care and eat your lunch okay?" Aki ruffled his hair and waved him off as he went to his seat.
He sat at the blue table with his friends Jace, Maria and Han. He yelled like All Might "WATASHI GA KITA!"
Jace giggled and waved him over. Aki grinned as he took his spot and shook off his backpack "Hi!"
"Hi Ayu!" Maria chirped and pushed her hand towards him "Look I got a new tattoo! We went to the mall yesterday!"
There was a butterfly drawn on her hand. Ayu said "Whoa... Cool. You know butterflies can taste using their feet?"
"Ew gross!" Han winced "No way! They don't have tongues?"
"Nope!" Ayu shook his head "I read it in one of Dad's books."
"What kind of books does your dad have?" Jace asked.
"Many. I've not read them all but he has many!" Ayu said proudly.
"My mom has many books too!" Han said "There's a full wall in my house! The bottom shelf is with my books!"
Then ensued a conversation about books and what kinds they'd seen. Mrs Gray stepped towards them with her strict face "What's going on here? Ayush why are you making noise?"
"But I didn't-" Ayu started but calmed himself down and said, "I was just talking Mrs Gray."
"Well keep it down or I'll take a star off the blue table." She warned, pushing back her glasses.
"NO PLEASE DON'T!" The kids yelled in distress and quickly shut themselves up.
Ayu was still a bit mad internally. I didn't do anything wrong. I didn't make noise! It's okay though. Mrs Gray is just a meanie. Dad said not to even bother with meanies. Ayu went about the day making sock puppets and colouring. Eventually it was time for more serious subjects. Mrs Gray wrote a big word on the board and said, "Today we're going to be reading little stories out loud so before we do I'm going to teach you how to break down big words into many little syllables so it's easier to read okay?"
Ayu looked at the board and read the word. Education. I've seen this word before. It means school and learning and stuff. So I don't need to listen I already know this. Ayu continued colouring his drawing of Todoroki while Mrs Gray spoke. He snapped to attention when he heard her yell "AYUSH KUMAR!"
Ayu stood up "Yes Mrs Gray?"
"Were you listening?" She glared. It wasn't as scary as when Dad or Mrs Choi glared.
"No Mrs Gray." He shook his head.
"Why not? Can you already read big words?" She asked sarcastically.
Ayu nodded "I can!"
"Oh really? Read the word on the board." She moved and pointed to it.
Ayu didn't even hesitate "Education. It means learning and school and things like that."
The class awed and oohed. Ayu smiled at Mrs Gray, half expecting praise the way he got at home when he read big words and half expecting to get yelled at. He didn't get yelled at.
Mrs Gray glared "Is this your first time seeing this word?"
"No Mrs Gray I read it before."
"Where?"
