The first thing Nakul saw at work the next day wasn't a murder, not a drug case, not a kidnapping and not even news of Joker. The first thing he saw was a middle aged man of average height screaming at their receptionist, Lily and Jay. Jay had snapped into his 'Angery' mode and was arguing with the man with all the skill and ferocity of a mother of teenagers with no patience left. Lily was trying to stop Jay from quite literally trying to beat him up. The middle aged man turned around and walked towards Nakul.

Nakul froze seeing his face but he quickly recovered, rage began coursing through his veins. It was Akabane's father. The red rimmed grey eyes and greying hair aside, his fair, lightly washed out freckled face with carved pink lips was the same as his son's. The son who he abused mercilessly since he was a toddler. The son Nakul loved no end. He glared as the man approached him and snarled "What are you doing here?"

"I want to see him. Tell me where that little bastard is hiding." Ryokan Inari snapped, grabbing Nakul's shirt.

Nakul brushed his hands off "I already told you that you are not getting anywhere near Akabane just yesterday. Stop this bullshit and go back home. This isn't the place for you to cause a scene."

"Nakul you know this guy?" Jay stormed up "He's been throwing a tantrum to see you!"

"Jay it's okay. We'll just have to let security know to never let him in." He said, still glaring at Aki's dad.

"THE FAGGOT IS MY SON!"

"WHAT DID YOU CALL HIM?" Nakul snarled, hands itching to pummel the old man to death "HE ISN'T YOUR ANYTHING ANYMORE!"

"I'm calling security then, I don't think we need to disturb everyone's day any further." Lily said stiffly and picked up the landline at her desk.

Jay put a hand on Nakul's shoulder "We should go. We have work anyway."

Ryokan wasn't done though he kept snapping "I am that boy's father! I gave him his name!"

"How incredible. A weeaboo with a drinking problem thinks he has rights over a human being because he gave him a name." Nakul rolled his eyes "He could just change it you know? You're nothing to him."

"Doesn't matter! He's probably your maid or something. Little shit ran away with that Martinez boy. What could he have possibly done without me? He's probably selling himself to you isn't he? He has always had a pretty face."

"Oh really-" Nakul started, taking a step towards him but Jay kept him held back as the security guards turned up.

"Nakul." He said in a warning tone before Nakul went too far.

Nakul sighed and looked at the security guards "Don't ever let him enter the premises again."

"Yes sir." They nodded and led off the struggling and straining man.

"That's Akabane's dad?" Jay asked as they went to their floor.

"Yeah." Nakul muttered "Bastard used to abuse Aki... bad. Ever since he was one or two till he turned 13. He just got out of prison and is back looking for Aki."

"Really? Shit... I'm sorry." Jay said softly "Is he okay?"

"He's fine. As long as I'm around, I am not letting that guy anywhere near my Aki." Nakul said and stepped out the lift "I'll see you later Jay."

"See you at lunch Nakul. I'll pick you up." He waved and walked off, ruffling his newly brown dyed hair.

Nakul was still in a bad mood, going home. Some smaller gangs had decided to attempt to rob the ECPD for evidence destruction and he had been assigned the case along with Yuri as always and Jake. The criminals were tougher nuts to crack than expected and though Nakul narrowed down suspects, things were going agonizingly slowly. He just wanted to go home and bury his face in Aki's shoulder and sleep. I hope he's better from last night. Aki had had nightmares that night, after Nakul told him about his father. He opened the door and yelled "I'M HOME!"
