IZUKU POV

"Hey little buddy, are you ready to head out?"

Standing at the gate heading out of UA was Mirio waving excitedly at me. Kyoka was walking with me, ready to send me off. She held onto my hand tightly and gave it a reassuring squeeze.

"Promise you won't do anything stupid?"

Laughing at her question I shook my head. "No promises."

She started to laugh as well but kept her eyes to the ground. This was completely different from the internships. There was no guarantee that he would take me on. Even if Sir originally took me on to prove to me I couldn't be a hero, he wasn't able to make his point stick.

After our phone calls last night Kyoka and I talked about what had happened on the last day of the internships and the confrontation between Sir and myself. It made sense why she was so worried that I was willingly going back into the lion's den. It was obvious that she didn't want me to do this, but she was choosing to support me.

"Everything will be fine, I doubt he's even going to accept me."

She looked up at me and did her best to force a smile. "He'd be dumb not to accept you."

I shook my head at her. "That look doesn't suit you."

Sighing she looked down again. "Look, I'm trying to be supportive, but I really don't want you to do this."

"I know, but try looking on the bright side."

"What bright side?"

"I'll have money to spoil you and go out on better dates."

She stopped for a moment to weigh the different options and outcomes. "I still don't like it."

I laughed at her response. "Kyoka don't worry so much about me. You should really be thinking about what you're doing after this."

Kyoka sucked her teeth as she looked away again. When Tsu and Uraraka found out about Hado wanting to talk to them about a work study they wanted to get an answer as soon as possible. Even though she said that she needed time to think about it, Tsu and Uraraka pushed her hand to give an early answer. Luckily Hado was currently with Ryukyu till this evening so it gave her a couple hours to think about it. All the sudden changes were piling up and causing her a lot of stress.

As she started to fidget with her jack and I placed a hand on her head to get her attention. "I've got to go now. I'll call you the second I leave so you don't have to think about it until I get back."

She looked up at me and tapped her jacks together. "Promise?"

"Of course, you know how important trust is to me."

Kyoka let out another sigh and gave me a gentle smile. "Alright."

We shared a moment of silence as we smiled at each other.

"Hurry it up already! We have a train to catch!"

Looking over at the gate Mirio was impatiently tapping his foot. The both of us started to laugh at him.

"You should get going, don't want to be late to your interview."

I shook my head. "Talk about a bad first impression, but I guess this wouldn't be a first impression."

"No, but you are going to ask for a job." She reached up and started to readjust my tie making sure it looked right. "Just don't do anything reckless, ok."

I gave her a nervous smile. "You got it, well I'll see you later."

Turing I jogged to catch up to Mirio who was still looking impatient. When I reached him he was shaking his head at me.
