Intro -
Obviously we all envisioned the MC differently but I want to do a small twist with them, Liliana is a true Slytherin. Independent, powerful and stubborn. She isn't kind to everyone and is overly sarcastic / defensive even when it's inappropriate to be. If anything is hard to follow or confusing ( it might be lol my writing is kinda scruffy ) then ask plsss.
The chapters are long to look through and since I'm an indecisive little shit some small things might be overlooked or oxymoronic, so sorry in advance guys.
I'd only just finished 3ed year ( when I started writing the fic ) but for a Romance I thought they should at least be year 10 age so I'm speculating and making the story up as I go, Lolz it might be shit. Basically it's 5th year but 4th year story for the first term and :))
September 1988
"Mum, look what I did!"
"Get OUT!" Her mother screamed as Liliana had run into the kitchen in hopes of showing her mother the Patronus she had just spent hours perfecting. Although she had learnt it with Tonks, she could now command a fully formed one with little difficulty.
Her mothers figure bent over the large oak table with her hands barely holding her up, each time she saw her the lines of her face had deepened, from stress or sadness Liliana didn't know. Her mother had a lonely existence, she took on a parallel role to a dying star overseeing all the dead, lifeless planets plagued within their system.
It was very sudden really, the laceration within their family was inexorable but still an event that her mother had hoped to postpone. Liliana couldn't possible remember when their family had been elated among one another, she was born too late to understand what her mother lost and she didn't much care to try and learn, not at this point.
Her mother was still an infamous witch, dressed in floor length robes and sapphire jewels across her neck, though her skin withered down to become coarse and textured at an alarming rate when Jacob went missing. Her hair was the one part of her that remained bright and youthful, her coiled white curls pooled down her neck, bouncing across her face as she moved creating a facade of youth she still clung to and envied Liliana for being able to maintain.
Her mother just wallowed in her own existence, she may as well be entirely absent to Liliana, she knew the screams and batterings endured as a child prepared her as best possible for the vaults as she could be, but that was possibly the only upside to having an emotionally bipolar mother.
Maybe it stemmed from a barely present husband and by now mostly absent children but Liliana still thought she did it to herself. Her actions forced isolation first, she gave no warmth so she would receive no comfort from Liliana, her daughter had vowed to it.
Maybe that's just the universal depictions of mothers though, everything a family struggles with can be pinned on the mother so easily. Her father is no saint, neither the other 3 Gutierrez siblings, but Liliana had no one else there to lay her frustration on. Though, mothers hoarding years of failure and disappointment was no strange occurrence to the world, through some sick manipulation of their evolutionary paths forced them into this position, the martyr of their children's names.
But Liliana was still merey a teenage girl who had no time to try and philosophise her mothers actions.
The summer had been a lot like that really, her father returned after a year and a half of fuck all and immediately was welcomed back, pathetic really. Though both were even more distant than usual and seemed to be constantly planning or talking with a strange group of people in her house.
In previous years she had attempted, begged, to spend time with her parents as a sudden only child in need of attention but they didn't deliver. And each time she had another desperate attempt at encouraging conversation it was shut down.
