The next day, Devin took a drive across town. He pulled up across the street from a construction site. He watched neon hard hats of men moving around the tall metal framed building then he saw his target....Kendrick.
He got out of the car dressed in his usual suit, tie and trench coat.
"Hey, are you one of the investors for this building?" One of the workers asked.
"Yes, I'm Devin Davis and you are?"
The man put out his hand for a shake, "Michael Stacks, site manager."
"Mr. Stacks, I heard great things about you. Nice to finally meet you." Devin shook his hand.
Michael gave Devin a hard hat and showed him around the site and the blueprint for the new building plans.
"Do you mind if I take a look around a little more?"
"Oh no, go on right ahead. Just watch your step and be careful."
"Got it."
Devin walked around the back of the building. Concrete slabs, huge steel bars and other types of metal laid in organized sections.
"What the hell are you doing here?"
Devin smiled then turned around. "Kendrick, how are you?"
"You got a lotta nerve coming here. What the fuck do you want?"
"That's what I came here to ask you. I got all your messages, it sounds like you have a lot you want to say to me. What's up?"
"I was told Sophia is staying with you, how is she doing?"
"Wonderful."
Kendrick looked him up and down. "Are you fucking my wife?"
"Oh no, she wasn't your wife when that happened."
"I knew it was you."
"Yeah, it was and it'll be me again."
Kendrick's anger showed in his eyes. He snatched his work gloves off and stormed towards Devin, but was stopped seeing Devin's eyes change to pitch black.
"Why'd you stop, Kendrick?" Devin's voice changed.
Kendrick just stood there not moving, he was trying to make sense of what he was seeing.
Devin closed his eyes and a loud crash hit in front of him. When he opened his eyes, Kendricks bloody body lay lifeless under a pallet of broken cement slabs.
The crew came running towards them.
"The line snapped, I don't know what happened! Oh my god, is he dead?!" The crane operator cried out.
Devin's mind came into focus as he looked around the panicked construction workers.
He walked back to his car and drove off.

Devin laid in bed on his phone, checking his emails and finally decided to go to sleep. He stared at the moon shining into his room....it gave the room a soft beautiful light.
Dev, she's coming.
His bedroom door crept open. "Devin? Are you asleep?" Sophia's voice spoke.
He sat up. "No, is everything ok?"

She walked out of Devin's room and closed the door behind her.
