"There's my little fairy. I thought I wasn't going to see you today. Have you been avoiding me?" Jackson's green eyes stared at Devin as if he was prey.

His jet-black hair looked stiff like it was frozen, and his usual tan skin seemed to grow paler as the trees swayed side to side in the cold wind. Besides his clothing, the only other thing keeping Jackson from the sting of cold air was a hoodie.

No winter coat, hat, gloves, or boots.....Nope! Nothing but a freaking thin blue hoodie. Yeah, this guy is psycho. Devin thought to himself.

He figured since Jackson was the devil's offspring, he probably didn't get cold... you know.....being from hell and all.

Devin thought about turning around and going back to the school, but Jackson would just chase him. He didn't feel like running. It was too cold to run. Deep in thought, Devin felt something hit his hat covered head, followed by a sharp sting....he looked up.

Did Jackson just hit me with a rock? He asked himself.

"Leave me alone, Jackson!" Devin yelled.

"Oh, trying to get some heart, huh? What are you going to do if I don't?" Jackson walked closer and pushed Devin.

"Stop Jackson! It's too cold for this and I want to go home!!" Devin felt his annoyance build up, but fear wouldn't allow him to move.

"Shut up faggot. Always whining like a lil bitch," Jackson spoke next to Devin's ear. Devin tried to walk around him, but was blocked every time. Jackson enjoyed the little games he played with Devin, he was so easy to pick on.

He knew all about Devin since his sister was in the same grade and went to the same school. He knew Devin had both his parents living with him, no siblings, in this big nice house.

Devin was some wiz kid honor roll student, always getting awards and certificates for something. Then on top of him talking properly and being a freaking math genius, he's handsome .....almost pretty. How the hell does all that happen at 13 years old? I mean I'm not jealous...so he thought.

Jackson played sports and was good looking himself, well that's what he's been told. But he didn't like this new attention that was given to this Devin Davis kid....his name even flowed nice....what the fuck?! The words echoed in Jackson's head.

Jackson Whitfield was a popular kid, got good grades and made many girls blush. Even though his parents were divorced, he and his siblings still had a good life. He was the handsome cool kid in the neighborhood that all the kids wanted to be friends with.....except for Devin.

Like who does this lil shit think he is?

Next year Devin would be in highschool and Jackson wasn't going to let this nerd think he was going to come into his school and steal his thunder or his girl.

I overheard my girlfriend who's a year older than Devin talking to my sister about how great Devin was and blah blah blah....Jackson hated him...like, what the hell was so great about this kid?

Devin finally pushed Jackson out of his way but was met with a punch to the face afterward. He fell to the ground, instantly met with kicks from Jacksons' sneakers. Devin felt slightly light headed from the blow to the face and covered his head from getting a kick.

He's trying to kill me, why is he still kicking me? Devin kept repeating to himself.

He felt a sudden urge that made him kick Jackson in the knee. The scream that left Jackson's mouth was unrecognizable. Devin stood up, getting stable on his feet, he stood and watched as Jackson held his knee groaning in pain.

Hey, look over there. Grab it before he gets back up and hits you again.

Devin saw the huge thick branch sitting on the side of the trail. He struggled a little picking it up at first but suddenly the weight got lighter. Then he turned to face Jackson, who was already getting onto his feet.

Hurry! Hit him Devin!

With a strength he didn't even know he had, Devin swung hitting Jackson across the face. He hit the ground as a low groan came out of him. Devin hit Jackson again and again, aiming for his head. The tip of the branch broke into pieces.....he wanted to make sure he didn't follow him anymore. He saw blood and stopped so it wouldn't get on the branch.

"I told you to leave me alone, Jackson. You should've listened."

Devin began crushing the weakest part of the branch with his boots, then threw the big piece into the lake...thank goodness it wasn't frozen yet. He began to walk home thinking about beating Manic123 in the Warfare online video game. He and Ollie began to plan out their strategy as their home came into view and Jackson Whitfield no longer did.

For the next few days, the big story was about Jackson Whitfield being found in the woods. At first glance the cops thought he was dead, but he had a slight pulse and was rushed to the hospital. He was found hours later after some kids decided to ride their bikes down the trail.

Four months had flown by, Devin sat at the kitchen table, listening to his mother talk to Ms. Whitfield on the phone. Her voice was soft as she tried to give Jackson's mother some encouraging words and support. Jackson was still on life support with no brain activity and his parents came to the decision to take him off next week.

Devin continued eating his food, then put his earbuds back in. Soon, opera singer Denyce Graves sang Ava Maria in his ears.
