Devin sat in a jail cell completely mute not answering questions, asking for a phone or an attorney. The picture of his dead parents replayed over and over in his mind. He wanted to portal his way back to the Underworld but he was void of all his supernatural power.
Am I being punished? No parents, no Ollie, no powers, no Deru...nothing. I really am nothing.
Even if Devin could go back to the Underworld, he didn't want his name tarnished in the human world as being the killer of his own parents.
From every direction...he was seen as guilty of double murder and the evidence didn't favor him at all.Soon the jail cell opened and a big guard walked inside.
"You have a visitor."
Devin shuffled down the hall with chains on his wrist and ankles. Eyes of other inmates watched him as he walked by but everyone was silent.
"You boys are awfully quiet today." The officer chuckled, noticing the silence.
When Devin came into the visitors room, he was met with thick fiberglass, another reminder of his imprisonment.
He looked and saw Chantel sitting behind the glass.
How did she know I was locked up? She's stationed in Vegas, not Connecticut....oh no, is my parent's death on the news already?
He was actually happy to see a familiar face and let go questioning her. Sitting down, he reached for the phone with his handcuffed wrists.
"Devin, how are you?"
"How do you think I am?" He had a blank stare.
"I know, it was a dumb question. Listen, I'm going to get you out of here. I've already been looking at the case and you definitely were set up."
Devin leaned forward. "You don't think I killed them?"
"Of course I don't. I know you have a darkside and everything.... But killing your parents?...not you."
Devin felt a little hope.
"I already have your case file and I'm working on proving your innocence. Attorney Mason also is looking at your case and he's definitely confident that you didn't do it. We just need to find out who did."
The little hope Devin had began to fade. "I don't think you will find the killer."
Chantel looked confused. "Why do you say that?"
"Because the killer is not of this world."
"Not of this world? I don't understand."
The guard walked into the area. "Times Up!"
Devin hung up the phone as Chantel stood up.
"I'm not giving up, Devin! I'm going to get you outta here!"

I laid on my cot, unable to sleep. My parents' bloody bodies were now the wallpaper of my mind and I felt like I was slowly going insane. Sophia popped in my head...
I guess this is her taking revenge on me? But I didn't kill her...I may have ignored her but not killed her.
Getting off the cot, I began pacing back and forth. I was tired, angry and ready to give up on life.
"I DIDN'T KILL YOU, SOPHIA!! YOU KILLED YOURSELF!!!!" I shouted in my cell.
How can I be responsible for someone else's life? It just wasn't fair....but then again life wasn't fair. The anger inside of me stirred up again, thinking about the Demon King.
Did he kill my parents?
I picked up the cot and threw it against the cell wall. My parents continuously flashed in front of my eyes...I felt like I couldn't breathe and I began to get dizzy.
Panic attack...I haven't had one of these since I was a child.
I remembered the Deru and what was said about the Demon King wanting me to cut my ties with the human world. My stomach turned, realizing my parents' death was caused by him.
I know he's responsible...he killed my parents.
Laying on the cold floor, I accepted to be among the dead if that was my fate...then I saw a piece of the cot that broke off. It was long and pointy and I knew I only had one thing left to do. I reached for the piece of metal and held it in my hand.
I renounce my throne as King of the Underworld and I reject my allegiance with the Demon King. God do what you want with my soul.
Shoving the sharp metal piece the deepest I could into my neck...everything went black.
