Ollie sat by Devin's side as he slept, not allowing anyone to come near him. For some reason he wasn't able to communicate with him while he was going through everything with his parents and jail.
He knew the Demon King was cold, so he wasn't surprised this happened to his best friend.
It's been a week and Devin was still sleeping after trying to take his own life. Little did he know....because of the Deru..he can't die. Once the Demon King felt Devin's heart stop, he quickly brought him back to the Underworld. He didn't expect Devin to denounce the throne and willingly take his own life...Ollie was surprised to see how sad the Demon King was at the thought of Devin rejecting his throne.
I'm happy he's alive but now both his human parents are dead. Is he going to have the will to live, knowing they were murdered?
Devin began to move, groaning in pain. He sat up slowly and looked around. Ollie smiled, seeing his best friend moving again.
"What happened?"
"You tried to kill yourself. Why would you do some stupid shit like that?"
Devin shook his head. "Why didn't I die?"
"The Deru won't let you die."
A bright red glow lit up the other side of his bed as the Deru sat on the pillow next to him.
"My parents are dead and I was framed for killing them, Ollie....what was I supposed to do?"
"Not kill yourself...You're not alone and you don't have to go through this by yourself."
"Well, I felt alone....very alone. Now my parents are dead...what the fuck, Ollie?"
Devin couldn't stop the tears from falling down his face. The thought of him no longer having his parents crushed his will to live in either world...human and underworld.
The Deru began to pulsate, feeling Devin's pain. Soon he disappeared. When Devin opened his eyes...he was once again in his parents home. The sight of his mother made his heart race, she began to walk towards him but went through him as he tried to hug her.
This must be a dream or a vision.
Sadness once again took over Devin's heart. He followed her towards the kitchen as she picked up her phone, making a call.
"Hey, my baby...did you get the butter and sugar cookies I sent you?" Monique smiled, talking on the phone.
She put it on speaker and sat it on the Kitchen island counter.
"Yup, I freakin already ate half the container. What do you put in those things, Mom.....crack?"
Devin heard his voice as his mom began to laugh, he felt a pain in his chest.
"Well, I'm glad you like them. Oh, your dad said he will meet you at the Lake next week."
"Okay, cool. Tell him I love him and I will see him there."
"Okay, I will."
"Love you, Mommy."
She smiled. "Love you more."
As soon as she hung up, Devin's father yelled. Soon three masked men dragged him into the living room. Devin ran towards them, but realized it was a memory and he couldn't physically touch them.
This was a robbery?
"We want you to call him and tell him if he wants to see you two alive then he will fulfill our request."
"No...I'm not bringing my son into this, I will give you whatever you want," Devin's dad said.
"Sorry, big guy...but you don't have the type of money your son has."
