In the next morning you grabbed all the stuff you needed and quickly made your way to the Defense Against The Dark Arts Room.
When you arrived there you sadly had to sit next to Crabbe. Gosh you hated that guy. Without any word you put down your stuff and brushed your hair behind your ear as you already noted down the date on a piece of parchment for the notes you'd be about to take.

Looking up, you found a bird made of paper flying around the room. It landed on your stretched out hand for a brief second before you sent it back to whoever sent it from the front row.
Only that, during this time, Umbridge had already walked in and was quick to destroy the bird into coal.

"Good Morning" she wished and starting writing onto the blackboard through her wand.
"Ordinary Wizarding Level Examinations, O-W-L's, more commonly known as OWLs. Study hard and you'll be rewarded. Fail to do so, and the consequences may be severe."
She proceeded to give everyone books, then explain that we'll never actually use spells only learn about them. You raise your hand and she calls on you. "How are we gonna be able to use spells if we don't learn how to?" "You won't need to use spells. It is approved by the Ministry that theoretical knowledge is enough to get you through your examinations, which after all is what school is all about." You roll your eyes at that answer and Umbridge looks at you with a twitching eye. "Are you not pleased by my answer, young lady?"
"You'd like me to say it's not important" you answered with a light smile, showing the sarcasm clearly, but not obviously enough for her to sent you into any trouble.

That's when Potter suddenly decided to one up your question once more.
"And how's theory supposed to prepare us for what's out here?"
"You won't need anything more than theory, who would even attack young students?"
"Oh, i don't know, maybe Lord Voldemort?"
A silence fell onto the whole classroom, any sound was drowned. It was like you had been able to listen to your own heartbeat.
"What an idiot" complained Crabbe.
"As if you're not one yourself" you hissed and pulled back when he suddenly smiled and leaned towards you.
"You're actually very interesting, you know? Go on a date with me."
"Hell no."

Her eyes twitchy, Umbridge looks around the classroom. Her voice trembles as she speaks.
"Now, let me make this quite plain. You have been told that a certain dark wizard is at large once again. This is a lie."
"It's not a lie, I saw him! I fought him!"
"DETENTION, Mr. Potter."

"Come on, don't make yourself better than you are" Crabbe said, starting to defend himself by bringing you down. All you wanted to do is leave and maybe Detention wouldn't be so bad.
"Okay, maybe today?"
"Okay, if you think so."
"Yes, I definitely do."
You smirked at him and flicked your wand towards the teacher in pink, her dress starting to smoke.
Already angry she starts screaming now and you try to make her see your wand, which seems to work as she shrieks out your name and sprints towards you.
"You are done for. Detention today, come in after Potter! In my office."
"Okay, Miss Umbridge. I'm sorry."
Then you turned around to Crabbe with a fake frown.
"Guess I can't... What a pity."
He just clenched his fist in anger and stuffed his stuff back into his bag.

Later that day you were sat at the great hall, next to Blaise again, who ridiculed you about your stupidness to get detention already.
"Are you serious? Bloody hell, you're so immature" he said and scoffs at your offended face.
"I had to get away from Crabbe somehow" you tried to defend yourself but were interrupted by Draco laughing.
"Crabbe? Seriously? My gosh, I'm glad you got detention so you don't have to hang around him" he cackled and threw his head back.
"You see? It was self defense, you see" you also laugh and clear your plate, then get up to get to detention, leaving with a small wave to your friends.

At the office you didn't really know what to expect, but you knocked as fast as possible so you wouldn't force yourself to drag it out any longer.
After hearing the allowance, you came inside and looked around the room.
Wallpaper, floors, furniture, wall plates, her clothes, drapes-
everything was painted in either pink or a reddish brown. It was the most appalling and noisy room you've ever been in, the cats on the pink wall-hung plates meowing and running around.
"Good evening!" you wish and sit down at a little desk Umbridge gestures to, returning your wish.
She handed you a piece of parchment and a red quill.
"I'd like you to write for me, with my own quill. Let's say... "I must always be respectful to authority", that's a nice one!" she smiled to herself, about to walk away but were confused.
"But, Professor, I don't have ink?" you stated and turned the quill between your fingers.
"Oh, you won't need one."
"Do I have to fill the whole page?"
"Keep writing until it settles in."
That could take a while,
you thought to yourself but started writing anyway.

How odd, the ink was red. You only noticed what it was when your left hand started to hurt and you looked over. The more you wrote, the more words engraved into your skin, red and bloody. Soon it started to burn and you looked up at the teacher. You didn't want them too but your eyes were watery from the pain of the long, bloody sentence now in your skin.
"Something wrong?" Umbridge asked in a pouty tone, putting down her tea to look at you closely. When you didn't answer, she seemed satisfied.
"You know you deserve this punishment. Deep down you do. Now, you may go. I think the message settled in."
The disbelief of what had just happened was too overwhelming for you to notice that you forgot to say goodbye, or that there was blood drops leaking from your wound at times. You shouldn't have continued writing, the cuts got pretty deep and stung. Somehow, you now had to get back to the common room without anyone finding you, as it was late.
