Never once in your life have you wanted to leave a party this much. It's so boring you could fall asleep on your dessert, if the conversation doesn't start getting interesting soon.
"So, tell me Cormac, do you see anything of your Uncle Tiberius these days?" asks Slughorn to the boy next to him. "Yes Sir, In fact, I am meant to go hunting with him and the Minister for Magic over the holidays."
"Well, be sure to give them both my best. What about your uncle, Belby? For those who don't know, Marcus' uncle invented the Wolfsbane Potion. Is he working on anything new?"
"Don't know" answers Belby with his napkin tucked under his chin to keep the ice cream off his shirt. He eats like a little child, you think. "Him and Dad don't get on. Probably because my dad says potions are rubbish. Says the only potion worth having is a stiff one at the end of the day."
"Well, what about you, Miss Y/L/N? What do your parent's do these days?" asks Slughorn further, shifting his attention onto you.
"Oh, well, my dad's still doing his own research as an Auror. I rarely see him, but my mom is home more often now that she hadn't had any new creatures to adapt to. We keep some bowtruckels in our garden now, they're very clingy but cute" you say and smile at the thought of the little green sticks. "That's wonderful, indeed they are. Miss Granger, say what exactly do your parents do in the Muggle World?"
"My parents are dentists. They tend to people's teeth."
"Fascinating. And is that a dangerous profession?"
"No. Although, one boy, Robbie Fenwick, did bite my father once. He needed ten stitches" she answers nervously laughing, her hands cramped in her lap.
In that moment, the Weasley sister enters.
Slughorn turns in his chair to welcome her, whilst she takes her seat. "Sorry, I'm not usually late." "No matter, you're just in time for dessert. That is, if Belby left you any" he laughs and leans back.
Blaise and you meet eyes and you smile quickly before looking down again.

"By Merlin, Blaise this was so boring!" you groan as you are just far enough away from the room you've been in for what felt like a whole week. "I agree, though it's always nice when you talk about your parents" he says and smiles at you. "What? why?" "Because you always get very happy talking about them."
"That was so cheesy, don't do that again." "Okay, I won't!"

"Get out of bed, lazy girl!" shouts Pansy and drags away your blanket. You try to grab it back but fail as you fall onto the ground. "I was just taking a nap" you mutter and get up tiredly, hair all ruffled. "Come on, let's get to lunch. It's the quidditch game soon!"
"Okay, I'm coming mother" you laugh and throw your pillow at the girl running outside already, leaving you to get yourself clean and ready to go.
At Lunch you saw Weasley walk in, a weird cap on. "What is he wearing?" you ask confused, leaning over to Draco. "He always wears that. Probably a hand-me-down, I mean, he's a Weasley." "Could've figured that out myself, Draco, great help" you roll your eyes and go back to your food.

"Blaise! You got this!" you shout, watching him fly across the court easily, the quaffel in one hand whilst the other holds his broom. Over the course of the game, you have to watch the balls fall and fall and fall, alongside with the players of Slytherin. And for some odd reason, that Weasley is able to catch the ball every single time. He is full of self confidence, nailing the game.
Afterwards, you quickly go down the stairs to meet up with Blaise. "Are you okay? You fell pretty high there" you ask getting a hold of his broom for him. "I don't mind falling, I mind losing" he says and gently grabs the broom, only to rush off and put it away. Instead you join with Pansy now to go and study at the library.
On the way to it you pass Draco. "Hey, Draco!" you call out and touch his arm, making him turn around. "What is it?" "Slughorn's throwing a Christmas party. Would you like to come with?" "What? I don't know. Since when are we on good terms?" "Since now. We've got to talk" you say and slowly remove yourself from Pansy, leaving her to go along.
"You have an apology to make and your situation to explain, so go ahead" you say and cross your arms.
"Follow me" ordered Draco, then he leads you to a stairwell up the Astronomy tower.

"So? Go ahead" you remind him, leaning onto the wall. "Great, if that's what you so desperately want. I regret treating you like rubbish."
"Wrong" you tease him with a smile. "Let me hear it" you whisper and get closer as he backed off a little with a gulp. "Come on."
"I- I apologize" he says, looking down at you. "For what?" "For not communicating and treating you unwell." The tension in the air was carried by the cold wind brushing against your warm cheeks, each others hot breath heating them.
Your eyes wander between his lips and eyes as he gets closer, feeling up your hand and waist.
Your lips brush against each other and finally touch, something you didn't know you'd ever be yearning for. As quick as it started, it ended again. "I'm sorry" mumbles Draco as he pulls away, leaving you by yourself as he runs off. You look at your hands, his warmth slowly fading from your skin again as you sit down. Running your fingers through your hair you try to order your thoughts.
You hated him, he treated you wrong. All you wanted was an apology.
So, you wouldn't have to hate him anymore.
Is that what you wanted? Did you want him to like you?
That'd be impossible, his parents are death eaters and yours work at the Ministry... and what if he's a Death Eater too?
Would you mind? You- don't know. It would change a lot of things. Too much is going around your head, your brain trying to fight your heart. Even though you didn't even know what you're thinking or feeling.

That is when footsteps approach you and you immediately recognize them. "What are you doing here, Blaise?" you ask and turn around. "Pansy told me you went with Draco, and he just left this place. So I connected the dots" he says and studies your face. "Did he hurt you?" "No. Well, I don't know? It's all very confusing" you sigh, smiling at your best friend.
"Do you like him?"
"I said I don't know."
"It's a yes or no question."
"But I can't answer it."
"What if I asked if you liked me?"
"Do you?"
The silence was enough of an answer as you felt your small world breaking apart. This shouldn't happen, you just wanted him to be your friend. Why did he have to look at you this way? "Listen, if you don't like me back that's fine" Blaise says, taking your wrist so you look at him. "Will you still be my date for the Christmas party? Just like we were on yule ball?"
Your eyes darted between his, trying to make a decision. There was hope you could continue to be friends, even if he liked you. So, you nodded.
