Meeting with Mr. Iero last evening l gave rise to unexpected revelations. Even if I am willing to do whatever it takes... I never imagined that a simple investigation would become so dangerous. Mr. Iero suggested that I spy on Solazzo under the false identity of a dancer.
Being a spy sounds extremely dangerous but also quite exciting... Do I really not have a choice? Isn't there another way to discover the truth?

"Mr. Way, I was about to contact you," Leo tells me as we meet before the usual café, later that day.
"Is it about D'Avanzo?"
He nods. "Indeed. It seems that I can't help you... D'Avanzo was killed two days ago. "I can hardly get any info now that he's gone."
"But... Shouldn't they be more inclined to talk? After all, they don't have to keep a dead man's secrets," I argue.
"Hm. You see, he was part of the mafia, and those who are in the family must respect the omertà. The law of silence. Those who don't keep their word... Well, let's say that they face dreadful consequences." Leo's face is marked with concern. "Even the police has a hard time making them talk."
"I understand. So D'Avanzo was once part of the Solazzo family?"
Surprise widens Leo's eyes. "How... Mr. Way, what are you up to? Don't come at the New York mafia, that's extremely dangerous."
Well, I have managed to get myself out of difficult times and situations, in the past. If I had refused to face adversity, I wouldn't have gotten as far as I am now.
"Thank you, Leo. This information has been very useful."
Leo raises a hand at me. "One last thing."
"Yes?" I am all ears. Leo frowns.
"I also investigate the man you told me about. Frank Iero? Well, he immigrated to the United States with his family when he was a child. I found records from Ellis Island confirming that. He moved to Little Italy, and when he got a little older, a mafia leader took him under his wing. I found the man's death certificate, so it would seem logical that he took up the torch of his mentor. The rest is a big blur. He is officially in charge of several businesses, like a restaurant, a store, and even a casino. But that's unclear. I don' think I can help you any further on that."
Wow... Well, I wasn't that mistaken when I thought Mr. Iero was an entrepreneur. I smile at my own sarcasm. "Thank you, Leo."
"Don't mention it, it's always a pleasure doing business with you. If you need more info, you know who to call." Leo salutes me and disappears into the crowd.
