Sammy:
(In Dallas)
We'd waited longer than mom had wanted when it came to going to Dallas, mostly because of Myrnin. Who had decided to not be found for 2 weeks. And then I'd accidentally found him in TPU's library, hiding in the Mythology section, reading up on Nephilims and Seers. Because that's a normal place to find an impossibly old Vampire, hanging upside down from a book shelf. Not.
But now, now I was being subjected to dress and mask shopping. With him, my mother, who you should never let in a lingerie store with a daughter who likes sports bras, and Violet, my awesome artsy aunt. Who was helping me plan my escape to somewhere a little less elegant, and more tom boy. But so far, mom had stopped us at every move.
"Samantha, how about this one?" She asked, holding up a deep blue silk dress, that looked a little like I would literally be wearing midnight, which was one of my favourite books. Whoever said Terry Prattchet wasn't a genius, was an idiot. "Samantha? Samantha, stop daydreaming, we're here for a purpose."
"Yes, to bore me out of my mind." Myrnin muttered, taking his fedora off his face as he looked at us. "I would rather have just taken the bracelet off. This day trip is going to kill me, Amelie."
Aunt Violet flipped him off as she returned to the room, holding a black dress with a lace skirt. "Yes, but remember, you're also out of town for once, and Amelie is giving you all new equipment for the lab. Now, what do you think of this one? Because I think that you're probably going to have a hard time finding something for your tom boy Goth daughter, Sister."
Mom stared at it for a moment, before looking at the CCTV cameras. "Myrnin, are you capable of hacking into the camera system and freezing it? Because I have an idea."
Myrnin got out his laptop, well, my laptop that he'd stolen and started trying to get into the stores WiFi, but eventually I just snatched it away from him. "Myrnin, trust me, when it comes to hacking, you need me. I am not psychic for nothing, passwords and usernames are easy enough." A minute later, I managed to freeze the images, but the time kept going. "OK, we should have about 10 minutes before someone realises."
Violet was apparently understanding what mom was up to and threw her a sewing kit, and mum tore a strip of the blue silk off. "Myrnin, what the hell are they doing? Because I know they're rich and all but..."
"They like to alter clothes, I think that they're putting in a few silk strips, I don't know as long as we get home soon. I can't take much more girl time. Besides, I should be looking for Arianna, she's been taken, and this party shouldn't go on without her." I was with him on that one, but I'd been told that if I tried to make a run out of town to where I roughly knew Callum and Drew lived, then I would be brought back and locked in my room until I graduated.
I sat down next to him, watching mom and Aunt Vi attach the beautiful silk to the black dress. Resting my head on his shoulder, I sighed. "I miss her. She brought me back to life, and I haven't even gotten to say thank you yet. I literally owe her my life."
He smiled at that, and rested his own head on mine. "I know, little Mantha, but at least we know that Drew and Callum won't kill her. They'll be too busy either trying to train her into one of their own, or finding away to take out her Vampirism."
That was news to me, I thought that because we were born like this then we were stuck, because I would personally like have been just a Vampire, get rid of the slight risk of ending up like my dad. Suffering and dying slowly of an anurism. "I didn't know you could do that." I said softly.
Just before I'd died, or been killed by my other Aunt, Naomi, I'd made up with Myrnin, and he'd taken over any dad type duties that Liam would have done, if he'd been alive. It was kinda weird, seeing as he was Aria's sort of interest, and also my stepdad was her birth dad. "Yeah, it's a Nephilim theory, make the Vampire side battle it out with the Angel one, through hard grit and training. Thing is, it can't be proven or disproven, as Arianna is the first."
