I can't stress this enough - but this is a situation that I can only ever dream about and even then it would feel a lot more real than now. We stepped inside, the place was quiet with a few people that rushed over to greet her and return to their chairs.
Now sitting across from me, I watch her as she twists her mouth to the sides looking down at the menu. I then look at our waiter, Desmond, who knows me. He is watching me with an even more confused stare as he gestures at her with his eyes.
I mouth the words, "Not a single word to anyone."
He clears his throat, "What would you have?"
She bops her head to the side as she asks me, "Have you decided already?"
I nod, "I frequently eat here so I take my usual."
She nods, "Then I will just match your order," she smiles at him, he nods as he writes it down, he taps his pen against his side as he walks off, probably as spooked as I am, "So..."
"A little forewarning would have probably prepared me a little more but then maybe not."
She chuckles, "Yeah. I didn't know how you'd respond so I just decided to let you know in person. That way I get to see the reaction, which was precious by the way, and make sure you can't run away."
I arch my brow in confusion, "Who would run away?"
"I don't know?" she counters.
I rub my brow as I mutter to myself, "I'm probably still asleep," then looking back at her, "If I may ask..."
"You may," she slides in between my words.
"Why did you decide to meet me of all people, between everyone-"
She stops me, "I know half of them. Would you have asked this question if I wasn't who I was?" she arches her brow.
"Uh... probably yeah."
She looks at me almost confused, then asked with a confused chuckle, "Why though?"
"I am not... the most charismatic person ever. I am not at all interesting and pretty much fill the stereotype of a shut-in to a tee," then with a sigh, I avert my gaze but still keep her in my peripheral.
"Why would you think that?" she then rests her arms on the table as she follows my gaze, "I mean I haven't had the chance to meet you in person till now, but the times we hung out with everyone online you seemed pretty cool. So I figured if I liked you I might as well meet up and we could hang out in person."
"By like you mean-"
"Friend."
"Yep, right. I mean that was pretty obvious."
She chuckles, "Back to why you think you are a stereotypical shut-in."
"You want to hear the stereotype or why I think so?"
She gives me an amused stare, "Really?" then propping her arm on the table, "How about you tell me both."
I cringe at myself, "I am studying IT, play games, prefer to stay inside, have the inability to get a woman to fall in love with me, been single for my entire life, claim to be an introvert, and was adopted by someone that felt bad for me."
"And you are saying you are all of that?"
With a nod, "Yeah."
Desmond brings us over our drinks as we thank him, "I mean it can't be that true, you agreed to meet with me. Right?"
A small smile spreads across my face, "Yeah... thought you being you is already a dream within a dream scenario."
"Would you even have said yes if you knew it was me? Be honest."
"I am going, to be honest, you are ranked very high in the list of celebrities I have a crush on. Though it isn't really hard to get on that list..."
"How high am I?" she rests her head in her hand as she arches her eyebrow.
"Uhhh-"
"I'm just messing with you" she chuckles slightly, "So what? You are a little face shy?"
"That and among other things," then finally taking a sip of my drink.
She nods slowly, growing quiet as if thinking I don't try to break the silence. Then a few moments later, "I mean this should be pretty easy, you are pretty engaging in conversation over the call so just need to boost your confidence and it starts by stopping putting yourself down no matter how used you are to it."
"But..."
"Nope. None of that."
Then saying it anyway, "I don't end up setting myself up to get hurt."
"I mean..." she sighs with a smile, "Hard to argue with logic. I'd imagine that your friends would have been able to build your confidence rather than just let you feel like this."
"They tried-"
"Not hard enough," she states, "If someone really wanted to try you would have eventually believed them."
I guess... it really is hard to argue with logic. Then again Conrad is better with women than helping you with women. This is already a stark difference in how he would tackle this situation, I am just starting to think that we guys are even more clueless than I hoped.
"(Y/N)?"
"Sorry... disappeared in my thoughts."
She narrows her eyes, "Hmmm. It's fine. Okay, I think I have an idea."
"An Idea?"
She nods, "I am pretty busy with work some days and other days I have an open schedule. You either have this weird cacoon you surrounded yourself thinking you are just bad at socializing when you clearly aren't. Or you are just an idiot."
Furrowing my brow, "None of those sounds remotely good."
"That's my point," she states, "So let's build you some confidence in yourself. The rest of the things will come after - you don't have to change anything about your lifestyle other than going out to some gathering a little more often."
"Even if my version of often is never?" I give her an awkward look as she sighs.
"We can talk about it later," than crossing her arms over the table, "Did you know that two of the guys in the group you play with is Yasuo who is with K/DA and True Damage and Ekko also in True Damage?"
