Chapter 20

Aroon sat there in shock unable to accept how their life has changed in a day. Yesterday they were happy to be with each other. But today they are talking about separation and divorce. How can things take such a drastic change overnight?

As Atid exited the house, Aroon felt like his entire world has come crashing down in front of his eyes. He no longer knew why he was still living. There was nothing worth living for anymore. His parents never wanted him, he died not have  many friends. The one he thought will never leave him was Atid. Atid had become his entire world without him even realizing it. Now that he is gone, there is just emptiness and pain left in his life.

Aroon slowly gets up from the floor and walks into the bathroom. He opens the cabinet and looks inside. He see something shiny lying there. He quickly grabs it and looks at it with a blank expression. He makes the first cut on his wrist and waits for him to feel the pain but nothing. He then made the second cut and looked at the blood gushing out of the cut. A smile appears on his face as darknessstarts to cloud his eyes. He slowly slump down on the floor as his eyes close gradually. A small sound escaped his mouth followed by a single word.

"Atid"

Atid just got out of their apartment and closed the door behind him. He could no longer bear the pain in his heart. He dropped on his knees and cried like a baby. Why would Aroon do this to him? He thought Aroon loved him? Was he wrong all this time? Atid had to get out of there before he breakdown completely. He called Niran to come and accompany Aroon. He still cared for him. Niran agreed to be there for Aroon.

Niran's POV:

Niran reached 10 minutes after he received the call from Atid. He knew everything that happened between Atid and Aroon. This time he knew Aroon was at fault. He thought of talking to him and getting some sense into his head. Niran reached the apartment and rang the bell multiple times but no one answered. He tried the handle of the door and it opened up.

Niran: Why didn't he lock the door?

Niran walks in looking for Aroon.

Niran: Aroon...Aroon..

Niran does not find Aroon in the living room, kitchen or balcony. He then goes to the bedroom to check. No one was there. He hears water running in the bathroom. He knocks on the door but does not receive any answer. He tries to open the door and it opens after a few tries. When he enters the bathroom,  he is shocked to see Aroon lying in a pool of blood. He is barely conscious and is calling out Atid's name.

Niran quickly runs and picks up Aroon's head and place it on his lap. Aroon opens his eyes and looks at him with a slight smile.

Aroon: Atid, yòooùuu came. I...I am sorry Atid.

Niran: Shush...shh..Stop talking Aroon
Let me call the ambulance.

Niran quickly calls the ambulance and then he calls Atid.

Niran: Atid..

Atid: What's wrong? Why do you sound so panicked?

Niran: I. I.....You need to come back now. It's Aroon.

Atid did not wait for Niran to complete the sentence. He disconnects the call and runs back to his apartment. As he almost reach the apartment, he saw an ambulance parked before the building. He ran towards the building. As he reached there, he is shocked to a teary eyed Niran standing outside the ambulance as the patient is being transferred to the ambulance.

Atid: Niran, why are you crying? Who is in the ambulance?

Niran: It...It is Aa...Aroon. He tried to kill himself.

My heart skipped a beat on hearing Aroon's name. Everything around me went mute as the only sound I could hear was the buzzing sound in my ears. I could no longer feel my legs and I almost fell on the ground. Niran caught me before I fell and helped me walk towards his car. I got into his car and we drove off behind the ambulance.

Soon we reached the hospital. Aroon was taken to the emergency room while we sat outside waiting for an update.

Atid sat there in a corner pulling his hair in frustration. Niran quickly ran to him and stopped him  before he could hurt himself.

Niran: Atid, please calm down. Don't hurt yourself. He will be alright.

Atid: But why Niran? Why did he do that to himself?

Niran: I don't know. I really don't know Atid.

Atid: He wanted to go away and I let him. So why would he do this?

Niran: Did he really wanted to leave Atid?

Atid: I...I really don't know anything anymore. I just want him to be okay.

Niran: He will be. He should be. For you, for us, for everyone who loves him.

Soon the doctor comes out of the room.

Atid: Doctor, how is he?

Doctor: He is okay right now. Physically he is fine but mentally,  he is quite unstable. He is under a huge shock. He is not responding to anyone. He will be okay gradually but all his loved ones need to help him get back to normal.

Atid and Niran nods their head in agreement. Niran asks Atid to stay with Aroon while he gets the medicine. Atid enters the room and sits on the chair besides Aroon's bed. He takes his hand in his hand and looks at him with tears in his eyes.

Atid: I am sorry Aroon. I am so sorry.
