You sat with your feet up on the table, tilting your head back to watch as the clouds moved past the trees above you. Since the laundry incident with Arthur, you haven't really talked much with him. You occasionally glanced at each other as you walked by, but normally no words were spoken by a rare 'hey'.
"Tell me why ya look so bored Y/N." The thick accent came from behind you and you nearly jumped. Sean stood right above you, looking down at you as you frowned. "Cause I am." You removed your feet from the table and placed them down on the ground, turning to look at the man.
"I've got great news fer ya then Miss. I gotta job for us." Sean grabbed onto your shoulders and gave you a shake. "A job? It better be a good one." Sean scoffed and sat down at the table with you. "You think my job ain't good? It's a house robbery." Sean tapped his fingers on the wooden table as he was your facial expression.
"Some rich folk living near Saint Denis. Husband owns an oil company, basically swimming in gold." Sean got excited as he talked about the robbery. "And Dutch approved this?" You asked as you looked at the leader of the gang, sitting with Micah and Hosea. "Yep and he thought you were perfect." Sean stood up, taking you by your hand and dragging you towards the horses.
"We gotta get going now though, so that we get there more towards night." Sean grabbed the reins of his horse and quickly hopped on. "Alright, but just because I need to get out of here." you patted Arlo as you swung your legs over your saddle and positioned yourself on your horse.
"Just follow me Miss Y/N." Sean got his horse going and you followed close behind him as you all left the camp. Sean sure was a lively feller, and most people thought he was exhausting to deal with, but he wasn't all that bad.
You enjoyed your time riding your horse out through the trees and across the plains. Ever since you were young it was always your favorite thing to do. Arlo was your first horse and you couldn't imagine riding any other horse besides him. Your hat sat steady on your head as Sean picked up the speed, following the path leading towards Saint Denis.
You had never been out towards Saint Denis. You normally stuck to the west of Lemoyne. "You got a plan for this little robbery of yours?" You shouted to Sean as you passed the sign on the road that read 'Saint Denis', pointing south-east.
"Well, it is a Saturday and rich folk always have parties to go to. If they're gone we can just sneak in. If they're not, you can play a damsel that needs help and draw them out while I sneak in." Sean looked back at you as he began to slow down his horse. "It's just up ahead." Sean pointed to the large house that sat just a little bit away. Somebody rich definitely lived there. They had their stables out back and a large shed.
Pillars lined the front of the house, along with a ton of flowers and shrubs that decorated the property. "Let's get this over with, Sean." You looked towards the setting sun, then back at the house. "Let's scope out things first, leave the horses here." You said as you jumped off Arlo and tied him to a nearby tree.
"Who said you could take the lead?" Sean chuckled as he tied his horse to the same tree. "I've been doing this since I was young. I've been the damsel and lost kid plenty of times." You winked at Sean as you crouched down and headed towards the large house. You couldn't see any movement in the house as you approached it.
You peaked in the windows, moving along the side of the house as Sean took the otherside. "Fuck." You spotted an older man, sitting in the middle of the room. "Looks like we got one, Sean." You backed away from the window and met up with Sean in the back. "Looks like it's your time to play damsel." Sean patted your back as you stood up and brushed off your clothing.
"Can't believe I'm back to this." You rubbed underneath your eyes, causing the skin to turn bright red as though you had been crying. You rubbed a little bit more at your eyes to make them appear puffy.
"What's yer story Miss?" Sean asked as he pulled his revolver from his side. "My poor husband and I got robbed and they shot him and left me on the side of the road." You breathed in as you tried to bring on the tears. Within a few seconds, you had tears streaming down your face. You gave Sean a thumbs up and headed back towards the front.
You frantically scrambled to the porch and knocked loudly on the door. You could tell you looked like a hot mess, but it needed a little touch. You grabbed onto the bottom of your shirt, pulling it out of your waist band and tearing at the fabric, causing it to rip off.
You could hear the footsteps coming towards the door and you quickly put on your most dramatic performance. "Please! Someone open up!" You sobbed as the door cracked open. "Miss! Whatever is wrong?!" The older man flung open the door and stepped out onto the porch.
"I-I've been robbed! My husband-" You erupted into more tears and the man grabbed you, patting you on the back. "What about your husband Miss?" You looked up as you buried your face in the man's shoulder to see Sean entering through the backdoor. He gave you a large smile as he disappeared into one of the rooms.
"They killed him! All our stuff is gone." You sobbed, collapsing onto the floor as the man still held onto you. "Oh dear, please let me take you to the sheriff's station." The man helped you up onto your feet and began to lead you away from the house. "I just- I can't believe he's gone." You kept up the act as the man led you down the street.
You passed plenty of buildings, all made out of brick or stone. It was a well-developed town, very different from Valentine and the camp. Numerous people traveled in fancy carriages and everyone was well-dressed.
"I know, I know. Just tell the lawmen everything and they'll help you." The man pointed to the large building with stone pillars, crawling with lawmen. "Thank you so much sir, you're so kind." You hugged the man and he returned it. "Of course Miss. I'm so sorry." The man made his way back down the street towards his house.
You waited until the man was long gone until you straightened yourself, wiping the tears from your eyes and fixing your clothing. "Please tell me you got something Sean." You walked behind the law building, sneaking through the alleyways as you made your way back to the horses.
You crouched down, making sure to avoid any windows on your way back to Sean. You had gotten close to the house and you could see Sean getting back on his horse. You ducked behind the fence of the house, running alongside it towards Arlo. "Great performance." Sean laughed as he helped you back onto your house. "Thanks, let's just get out of here before he realizes we robbed him." You and Sean galloped away from Saint Denis and back towards the camp. The whole way back Sean couldn't stop talking about how amazing you did and how much loot he had gotten. Thankfully, the wife hadn't been there so the house was left to Sean and his sticky hands.
The camp started to come back into view, the few lanterns lighting up the place at night. Everyone was wondering about camp and they all turned as you and Sean entered the camp. "Look who it is!" Karen shouted as she ran towards you, helping you off your horse. Sean got off his horse, wrapping his arm around your neck and embracing you.
"May I say, Y/N was excellent!" Sean boasted as he walked through the camp with you in his arms. Nearly everyone emerged from their tents to see what Sean was shouting about. Among them was Arthur and John, standing next to each other as they watched you and Sean parade around. "Don't you dare forget about my cut." You nudged Sean off of you and he sighed, digging into his pockets for the cash he had taken from the house.
You could see Arthur eyeing you and Sean with a stern look. You just ignored him and took the cash from Sean, shoving it into your satchel. "Y'all got some money?!" Bill shouted from across the camp and Sean held up all his loot from the house. "I couldn't have done it without Miss Y/N. Best damn damsel I've ever seen." Sean patted your back as he walked away towards the camp's funds to contribute.
"Best damsel huh?" Sadie handed you a bottle of beer and guided you towards the small table in the camp. "All I had to do was cry and we got the house to be empty." You smiled as you took a sip of beer, looking around for Arthur. He was nowhere to be seen, probably off doing chores like he always is. "Don't tell me you got your eyes on Sean." Mary-Beth joined you and Sadie, her eyes looking worried. "Of course not. He's not my type, plus I know you got a thing with him." You winked at her, causing her to become flustered.
"Well great job Y/N." Mary-Beth patted you on the back and ran off towards Sean.
"You should go and talk to Arthur, he was askin' where you were." Sadie pointed towards Arthur's tent, her other hand pushing you towards that location. "Sure he was." You just rolled your eyes as you sat up from the table and walked towards his tent. "Uh Arthur?" You stood in front of the tent waiting for his reply. It was a second or two before you heard him hum, signaling for you to enter.
"Hey, I just wanted to say thank you cause Dutch probably wouldn't have suggested me for the robbery." You looked at Arthur as he sat on the edge of his cot, a glass of whiskey in his hand. "Yeah." He quietly said as he avoided eye contact with you. "You just gonna sit in here all day? Why not come out and join us?" You swirled your beer bottle around before taking another sip. "No thanks." Arthur stood up from his cot, finishing off his whiskey and setting the glass on his nightstand. He went to go exit the tent, but you didn't move from your spot.
"What the hell is wrong, Arthur?" Your harsh words surprised Arthur. All he could do was look down at you as you furrowed your eyebrows, keeping the canvas of the tent closed with your hand. "Now I know we ain't best friends or even close friends, but I sure as hell know when something ain't right with you." You stood your ground as you and Arthur remained looking at each other.
"It ain't nothing Miss. Now excuse me." Arthur gently moved you, pushing your hand away from the tent's opening and stepping out into the camp. "If this is about Sean, you know how he is. He's just overly friendly. Don't go thinking you know my feelings Arthur Morgan." Your words caught his attention. He stopped for a minute, hesitating before he turned around to look at you. "I ain't worried about nothin' Y/N. Like you said we ain't best friends neither are we close friends."
