It had been a long morning filled with you helping Pearson skin the remaining rabbits. You cleaned off the blade of your knife on the wet cloth and tossed it to the side of the wash bin. "You haven't seen Arthur have you?" You turned to Pearson as he sat in his chair, stirring the pot of stew.
"No, Dutch probably has him doin' something." Pearson shrugged his shoulders and you walked away. You looked around the camp, laying your eyes on John and Jack. You tucked your knife into your leg holster that was tied to your thigh.
"John!" You called after him and both John and Jack turned. "What can I do for ya?" John stood up from a kneeling position as Jack hurried to his side. "You seen Arthur? I haven't seen him since last night." You watched as John looked around the camp.
"Nah, he left early this morning, but he didn't tell me why." John patted Jack's head and slowly turned him towards you. "You wanna hang out with Miss Y/N?" John smiled as he slowly backed away from Jack, grinning at you.
"Come on John, I didn't sign up for babysitting." You rolled your eyes as he slipped away and you were left with Jack. "Ok come on Jack, what do you wanna do?" You bent over, hovering right above Jack. "I wanna build a castle." Jack pointed to the pile of rocks near him.
"Alright, lemme help you." You walked over to the pile of rocks and sat beside them. Jack grabbed a few rocks, piling them higher, his smile growing. You scooped up a handful of rocks, one by one setting them around the castle.
"We gotta create a moat right? So no one else gets in." You laid the rocks in a circle around the castle. Jack nodded as he helped you finish the circle and connect it. "Who else would try to get in?" Jack looked up at you, and you let out a sigh. "Just bad people. We wanna protect ourselves." You patted Jack's head and returned to building the castle.
The castle was finally built, using all the rocks that were around you and Jack. "I see we have an architect here."
You whipped around to see Arthur standing above you and Jack, his hands behind his back. "Uh Jack, you mind if I talk to Miss Y/N here?" Arthur bent down to talk to Jack. Jack stood up from the dirt and ran over to Abigail and John's tent.
"And where have you been?" You stood up from the ground, brushing your pants off. "Out. I see John got you to play with Jack." Arthur rolled his eyes as he signaled towards the man as he relaxed in his tent.
"Yeah, I don't mind it though." You smiled and grabbed onto Arthur's arm, walking away from the castle with him. "What were you out doing?" You asked as you and Arthur came to a stop in front of your tent.
"I just thought I would go and grab something." Arthur pulled his hands from behind his back, handing you a bundle of wild flowers. A smile immediately spread on your face as you grabbed the flowers. There were a ton of different kinds, anything from little white ones, to long blue ones that looked like bells. "Why did you do this?" You held the flowers close to you as you looked up at Arthur.
"I just felt like it. It's nothin' special." Arthur leaned in, placing a peck on your cheek. He stepped away, looking around the camp. "I got some other duties to do, so excuse me darlin'." Arthur smiled proudly as he walked away from you. "Thank you, Arthur." You waved goodbye to him and snuck into your tent with the flowers.
You held them tightly and placed them on the make-shift nightstand beside your cot. You admired the flowers, the first thing Arthur's given you, besides a home.
