Spirits were high in the camp from the successful robbery. Even Micah was only making some smart remarks every so often, instead of one every second he passed someone. You stood against a tree as you watched John and Jack playing around with the makeshift swords.
You could hear someone creeping up on you from the forest behind you and you quickly turned to see Arthur, his hands reaching out to rest on your shoulders and stand behind you. "You've gotta start approaching me from my front." You let out a sigh as you turned around to look at him.
"You got some time on your hands?" He rubbed the back of his neck, a telltale sign he was nervous. "Yeah what, you planning to tell me you bought a whole farm now?" You raised your eyebrows as you started to walk with him away from the camp. "It ain't that. I was seeing if you'd wanna ride with me, up to the mountains." Arthur looked towards your horses and then back at you. "The mountains? And what for?" You walked towards the horses, already knowing you'd tagalong no matter what the reason.
"Just to get away from camp, relax and see the view for a bit." Arthur shrugged his shoulders as he helped you up onto Arlo. "I didn't take you as a scenic man, Arthur Morgan." You laughed as Arthur got on his horse, ready to lead you out of camp. "I like to see pretty views every once in a while." He winked as you before heading off on the trail leading out of the camp.

You had barely spent anytime up in the mountains. Once for hunting a bear, per request, but other than that, you never even thought of heading north. On the way there, you traveled through the woods, keeping your eye out for the animals wandering the land.
Every once in a while you would pass an elk, which was always a beautiful sight. Every animal that passed, Arthur would take the time to stop and point out.
"We're just nearly to where I wanna be." Arthur called out to you as you traveled up the winding path towards the top of the mountains. "How high do you plan on going?" You asked as you looked at the snow on top of the blades of grass. "Just a little bit further." Arthur led you off the trail and around the mountain, passing by large rocks that sat on the edge of the cliffs.
"Alright, it's just up here." Arthur hopped off his horse and tied it to a nearby tree. He rushed over to your horse, holding out his hand for you to hold onto as you got down from yours. "You sure you aren't here to push me off?" You looked at him suspiciously as he once again rubbed the back of his neck. "I ain't gonna do no such thing darling." He held onto your hand as he led you down the path of pebbles, leading to a grassy area at the edge of the cliff.
Your eyes widened as your lips curled into a smile. As you stood looking over the cliff, you could see out far past the mountains you stood on. The woods stretched on for a while and you could see all the hills in the distance. Beyond the forests were the mountains with snowy tops. The mountains stretched for a while and peaked above the clouds.
The sun was just beginning to go behind the mountains, causing the sky to become purple, orange and pink. "Arthur oh my god it's beautiful-" You turned around to look at him, but found him down on his knee, looking up at you. "God dammit." You could hear him mutter under his breath as his hand reached down into his pocket.
You froze as he pulled out a small ring, holding it gently in his hand as he reached out to you. He held your hands as he held up the ring and looked up at you. "I know I ain't so romantic and this is the best I could do. I'm sorry we're both caught in this life, but I do wanna be with you forever. Whether that's just for a day or a couple of years. I really love you and I wanna keep you safe. So Miss Y/N L/N, will you marry me?"
Arthur waited for your answer, his eyes darting around your face to try and read your emotions. "Arthur, of course." You smiled and tried to contain your excitement as he slipped the ring onto your finger. You held up your hand to look at the silver ring with the small garnet stone in the center. You jumped up and down, wrapping your arms around his neck as he held you by the waist. "Why would I ever say no?" You smiled as you buried your face into his neck. "Well I don't know, you thought I was gonna push you off this mountain." Arthur let go of you, admiring your face as the sun hit you perfectly. "I love you so much darling."
