During the next few weeks the news of your and Arthur's plan to leave the gang had spread. You heard a lot of mixed reactions. Micah and Bill were happy to see Arthur finally go, but nearly everyone else was upset when they heard the news. The weeks were full of stress as Arthur was going between the camp and the small ranch, fixing it up as you got ready to move soon.
You laid in your cot, your hands wrapped around your stomach as you tensed up from the pain. You had already been bent over the river that morning, unable to hold in any food you ate.
Your nails dug into your stomach as you breathed heavily, unable to stand up and support your own weight.
"Y/N?" You heard a soft voice outside your tent and you gave a quiet grunt. The canvas opened and Abigail stood outside, her eyes wide as she peered down at you. "Jesus, are you okay?" She rushed into the tent, placing her hand on your head as your eyes closed.
"It fucking hurts. I don't know what it is." You whined as you tried to sit up in your cot. "Take it easy. We've gotta get you to a doctor." She disappeared from the tent, only to return a second later with a thin blanket.
She quickly wrapped it around your shoulders, helping you stand up and make your way out of the tent. "Come on, just make it to the wagon." Abigail held on tight as you walked over to the wagon that was waiting for you.
Everyone's eyes were glued on you as you shuffled towards the wagon. John hurried over as Abigail tried to help you into the wagon. He gave Abigail some support as she finally got you to sit up in the seat of the wagon. She climbed up into the seat, sitting right next to you and grabbed the reins.
"We'll be back, John. If Arthur comes back let him know I'm heading into Valentine." Abigail gave John a nod and he returned it. "Be safe." John waved goodbye as you and Abigail left the camp and headed off towards Rhodes.
Your stomach didn't get any better as you rode to the town. You continued to grip onto it, the pain traveling from your stomach to your waist. "We're almost there. It's right in sight." Abigail looked at you with a worried expression.
As the wagon came to a halt, Abigail quickly hopped out, grabbing onto your waist as she helped you down onto the sidewalk. She wrapped her arm around your waist and held you up as she opened the door to the doctor's.
"Excuse me!" Abigail called out into the empty room. You looked around as a man appeared, dressed in a white coat and an object hanging around his neck. "What is it?" The doctor grabbed onto you, helping Abigail take you into a small room.
"She's been like this all morning and she was throwing up earlier." Abigail helped set you down in a chair as the doctor sat down in front of you. You moved your hands away from your stomach as he placed his hand there. "Hmm." The doctor took the object from around his neck and placed the two ends in his ears. "Sit straight for me." He said as he pressed the metal looking device to your chest.
"I do need payment for this." He raised his eyebrows at you and Abigail. You groaned as you reached into your pocket and pulled out some cash. "Now, what is it?" Abigail watched as the doctor stood up and walked to the other side of the room. "All the signs point to pregnancy." He dug through a cabinet and grabbed a bottle.
"Just take this pill and the pain should ease." He turned around, a small white pill in his palm. "Pregnant?" You muttered through the pain and looked up at Abigail. Her mouth was wide open as she looked from you to the doctor.
"Pregnant." He repeated and placed the pill on the side table next to you. "Christ." You buried your face in your hands as you tried to get a grasp of what was going on. The last thing you thought was pregnancy. Maybe just some sort of bug, but not pregnancy.
"Thanks doctor." You grabbed the pill off the table and popped it in your mouth, dry swallowing it as Abigail ran to your side to help you out of the chair. Your head hung low as Abigail linked arms with you and exited the doctor's.
"We uh better get home now." Abigail got into the wagon with you. "How do you feel?" She turned to you as you leaned back in the wagon and looked to the doctor's office. "I don't know. A kid, great! We're moving away from the camp so I'm not worried about how they'll grow up..." You began to trail off as you remembered when Arthur told you about his late son, Isaac.
"Oh don't be worried about Arthur. I'm sure he'll be thrilled." Abigail gave you a warm smile as the wagon began to take off back towards camp. "I don't know if he's ready. We've never even given it any thought. Plus because of what happened with his son, I don't know if he will be thrilled." You let out a sigh and looked at Abigail.
"I'm sure either way he'll react better than John. You ain't gotta worry about Arthur running off and leaving you with a kid." Abigail laughed and you relaxed. "I guess so." You shook your head as you thought of all the bickering John and Abigail got into and she always brings up when he fled.
The trees began to thicken, which was a sign you were getting closer to camp. "Shit." You spotted Arthur's horse standing amongst the trees. "Don't be nervous." She patted your shoulder as the wagon slowed down and you got off.
"Y/N!" You immediately heard your name be called from just a little ways away. You turned to see Arthur rushing towards you, John right behind him. "John." Abigail grabbed onto John's arm and pulled him away from you and Arthur. "What? I can't check in on her?!" John scoffed as Abigail pulled him away, whispering into his ear. You could hear John gasp as Abigail pulled him into their tent.
"Are you ok? John said you and Abigail went to the doctors." Arthur grabbed onto your shoulders, looking you up and down. "I'm okay. I just think we should talk." Your eyes darted around as Arthur dropped his arms. "What? About the ranch? It's nearly done, just needs some furniture." Arthur looked proud as he looked down at you.
"No. It's about something else." You dug your feet into the soft dirt as you tried to gather your words. "I'm pregnant." You avoided looking up at him as you could feel your body begin to shake. "Pregnant?" Arthur asked, his voice low as he began to look around the camp. "You sure?" He asked as he grabbed onto your hand.
"Yeah. It explains the pains and morning sickness." You bit your lip as you looked up at him. "That's great. Oh my god." Arthur pulled you into a hug, his arms wrapping around your torso and his chin resting on your head. "Great?" You stood there, confused, yet relieved by his reaction.
"Of course. Why wouldn't it be? We have a ranch and we're getting away from this life." Arthur slowly let you go and stepped back to look at you. "I just thought about your past and-" "The past don't matter Y/N. I love you and I'm gonna love that kid." He pressed his hand to your stomach and smiled brightly.
"I'm glad." You relaxed as you crashed into Arthur's chest. "I'm so glad." You repeated as tears began to come to your eyes. "Don't you dare cry. You know I love ya. Ain't nothing to be worried about."
