I knew a little bit about art since my mother was a freelance artist. She had taught me quite a bit. I decided to used that knowledge and paint the Fuentes family some stuff. For Mike I had painted a giraffe and for the family I had painted a beach, knowing that they loved the beach. I got in the car next to my mother and we backed out of our drive way.
Soon, we were pulling up in front of the Fuentes household. "You ready?" I asked mom. She smiled and nodded. "Let's go." She replied.
As soon as I knocked on the door Mike opened it and planted a kiss on my lips. "Hey Jenny!" He smiled and sling his arm over my shoulder goofily. Mom laughed. "Hey Mike! Thanks for inviting us." She said warmly. Mike showed us inside and introduced mom to his parents. Everyone was polite and happy. I smiled and sat down next to Mike at the huge table. "On Boxing Day lets hang out with Jaime and Vic at the beach." He said kissing my cheek. "Alright." I replied, blushing. Food was being passed around and soon enough my plate was heaped with a whole bunch of amazing food. The entire family plus me and my mom dug in right away. It was delicious and for the first time in a while I felt happy again. I looked over at Mike. He noticed and smiled warmly, pecking me on the lips. My heart fluttered. God, I was falling in love with the boy.
We finished our supper and moved onto pumpkin pie for dessert. "Babe you have some whip cream on your lips let me get that." Mike said, kissing me softly. I laughed and kissed him again before taking another bite.
"Not at the table." Vic spoke for the first time that night, a real smile plastered on his thin face. Mike rolled his eyes theatrically and laughed. When the night was almost over we exchanged gifts. I dragged Mike upstairs to give him his. I had worked hard on it and I wanted it to be a surprise just for him.
"So my family doesn't really have that much money so we end up making our own gifts," I said, hiding the cloth covered canvas behind my back. "That's fine by me." Mike said lovingly. I took that as my queue to give him the canvas.
"Just rip the cloth off." I explained. Mike nodded and pulled away the cloth to reveal the giraffe painting. "Tony this is amazing!" He exclaimed, staring at it in awe. I blushed bright red. "Thanks." I said awkwardly. Mike set the painting down on his desk and hooked his finger in my belt loops, pulling me in for a sweet kiss. "Thank you so much." He mumbled, hugging me and burying his face in my hair. "My pleasure." I smiled shyly even though he couldn't see it. Mike pecked my lips once before dragging me downstairs to see if we could steal some more pie.
