The rest of winter break passed quickly. I spent a lot of time with the Fuentes's and Jaime. Then, on the 28th on my moms birthday I took her out to dinner at her favourite restaurant. My life was looking up, thanks to my wonderful boyfriend and friends. I was thankful my mom had talked me into going to that school. All to soon the break ended and me, Mike, and Jaime were faced with midterms. We ended up passing all our midterms and as the weeks flew by, one weekend Mike was feeling curious.
"So when can I meet your dad?" Mike asked me, wrapping his arms around my waist as I lay in my bed in our dorm room. We had only been dating for a few months and he met my mother during Christmas break, but I never took him to see my dads grave. It kind of stung to know that he had forgotten that my dad had passed away but it was months ago when I told him. "Later." I said vaguely. Mike sighed. He sounded annoyed. "Tony you've been saying that for since December." He said, kissing my cheek. Butterflies stirred in my stomach as they usually did. I turned my head so I could kiss him properly. "Fine." I said, breaking the soft kiss and getting up. "He's not that far from here." I said softly. Mike stood up as well and kissed me again. Then I held out a bandana to him. "I want it to be a surprise." I smiled. Mike grinned back. "You're lucky I trust you, Turtle." He chuckled. I smiled back weakly. I slipped my hand into his after tying the bandana and walked with him off campus. We walked got into my car and I drove the half an hour it was to San Diego. The cemetery my father was buried in was just on the edge of town. Emotions swelled inside of me as I remembered that day, seven years ago, as I watched my father's casket being lowered into his grave. I remember my mother hugging me and crying as well as we watched the black box disappear forever. I lead him through the gate and down a twisting path to where my father's grave was. "Sit down." I said, trying to steady my voice and failing. "Tony what's wrong?" Mike asked, concerned. I said nothing and just sat down next to him. Then, I took off the blindfold. Mike looked around taking on the surroundings. His perfect lips shaped a silent "Oh" "Mike, this is my dad." I said pointing to the headstone. Mike wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me close "Nice to meet you, Mr. Perry." He said, and then kissed my temple. My emotions were running high when he spoke. "I wish you could see you're son now. He's amazing, smart, talented, and not to mention handsome. I'm sure you'd be so proud." Tears were flowing down my face. I could tell Mike wasn't joking around or anything. The strange emotion running through my veins whenever I was around him suddenly had a name. Love. "M-Mike?" I said timidly. "I-I think I love you." I whispered.
"I love you too." He replied, kissing me lovingly. My heart felt like it was going to burst, he loves me back. He loves me back. "Did you hear that dad?" I smiled, tears rolling down my flushed cheeks. "Mike loves me." It was rainy that day. But as I spoke the clouds seemed to part and just for a second the sun shone. My jaw dropped and Mike tackled me, kissing me. His mouth moved slowly against mine, I could feel his lip ring pressed against my own lips. His hands cupped my face as mine ran through his hair. When we pulled back he smiled. "I love you." He said, slightly breathless. "I love you too." I replied.
