(Y/N) POV

~Kazan's home~
"C'mon Killua, you gotta share some of that delicious kobe steak!!" Ryu yelled across the dinner table.
"You already got some idiot," Killua says, annoyed.

I leaned against the wall by the doorway, arms crossed, watching my friends sit all together, eating a nice expensive dinner. I smiled softly as I listened in their conversation. We treated ourselves. We deserved this. Sora and Haruka were at the table, listening to a bandaged up Killua fight with a complaining Ryu. I laughed at the sight.

This was our freedom. A beginning chapter to our new life.

"Hey (Y/N)," Kazan called me from behind the doorway. He cocked his head to the side, gesturing for me to follow him. I followed him outside to the patio.
"Hey Kazan, what's up?"
He was looking out to the beach side. I walked up to him slowly, looking out at the water. I smelt the salty air. I turned my head to the side, looking at Kazan. His dark hair looked soft, blowing in the breeze. I looked at him in awe, his copper brown eyes lit up brightly under the stars, coming off a hint of fire red. He was truly amazing in every way.
"I always come here at night when I need time to think, it helps clear my head," Kazan said lowly.
"Hm? What's on your mind, Kazan?" I asked, brow raised.
"I was worried about you (Y/N). I shouldn't have let you go. But I did, because I respected your decision. If it was up to me, I would have chosen you over Killua in a heartbeat," Kazan said in a serious tone.
"K-Kazan...I," I didn't know how to respond. "I wish you two would get along."

He looked up into the night sky. His shoulders hunched over as he rested his arms on the balcony handrails. He laughed, "Tsk. I don't hate the kid. He's actually one of smartest and strongest people I've ever met. I admire him, believe it or not."
I looked at him in disbelief. He admired him? He would never admit that to Killua.
Kazan smirked. "And that's why.. I'm envious of him. I'm envious of the connection you two have. It's natural and pure. Unbreakable..."
"Kazan, I feel the same about you. We have an amazing connection. We are one. We are elementalists. We're destined to meet." I said to him. I really wasn't sure what Kazan was getting at.

"(Y/N), you don't understand," Kazan faced me. My heart began to beat fast as he inched closer to my face. He tilted my chin up gently with his fingers to look at him. "You're in love with him.. right?"

I was speechless.
I couldn't form words. My mouth opened, but no words came out.
Am I in love with Killua?
I thought about his question. When I was stuck in the basement, tied up and beaten, all I thought about was Killua. I thought about how much I missed him and how much I-
Kazan placed his hand on my cheek, caressing his thumb on the corner of my lips. I wasn't sure what flustered me more, his question or him touching my face in this way.

He smiled. "It's okay, you don't need to say anything. I wonder.. if I were to have met you first, would we have the same connection? Would things be different?"

I placed my hand over his hand that held my cheek. I removed his hand softly but still held onto it. "I'm sorry Kazan. I really am." I looked at him with sadness.

Kazan was an amazing friend, but I am in love with Killua. And I would choose Killua. If I hadn't met Killua, Kazan and I would surely be together. But I didn't want to complicate anything.

"Thank you for saving me. I really appreciate you and our friendship. I never want to lose you," I said with a shaky voice. I was holding back my tears. I gave him a hug. I felt bad. I felt like the worst person in the world.
He hugged me back tightly. "Of course," he simply said.

"Hey (Y/N)! Kazan! We're all looking for you!" Haruka interrupted. We all walked back together, joining the rest of the group.

The night flew by fast, suddenly the sun was up and everyone was waking up to the smell of pancakes. Ryu and Kazan were cooking breakfast. I woke up to an amazing smell of maple syrup.
"Thank you!" Everyone said as they ate their food.
"Thank you Kazan, for letting us all stay at your place in the meantime," Sora said.
"Of course, you all are welcome to stay for as long as you need," Kazan smiled.

After breakfast, I went to my room. Breakfast wasn't awkward or anything. Honestly, I acted like Kazan didn't just admit his feelings for me the night before.
KNOCK KNOCK
"Come in," I said.
In walks Killua with his hands behind his head, "Hey (Y/N)."
"Hey.. what's up Killua?"
"I was wondering if you wanted to come with me back to my parent's house?"
"I would love to!"
"I just need to get access to another airship. I also want to check in on my sister. She's amazing. I want you to meet her," Killua smiled.

Oh right, our airship was destroyed by the spy academy.
"Of course! I would love to meet her. And your family," I said happily.
"Great," Killua said. "We can travel with my sister for a little bit too."
"W-what about the others?" I asked.
"They can come with," Killua said.

I asked the others if they wanted to come with us. They all politely declined. Sora and Haruka wanted to explore more of the island. I respected their decision, but of course I wanted them to come with us. We just got them back. We talked about how we would see each other soon after Killua and I traveled a bit more. We would definitely come back and visit on this island. This is my home now.

Ryu and Kazan wanted to stay here to relax after the mission. Kazan suggested we have his pilot drop us off at Killua's home.

.

"(Y/N), please take care," Sora and Haruka said to me.
I teared up. "S-sora, Haruka..." I said, barely forming any words.
Haruka wiped my tears away. "Don't cry, you'll see us soon right?!!"
"Right!" I said, smiling through the tears, hugging them both tightly.

I went up to Ryu and gave him a hug. "Thank you Ryu, for everything," I said still crying.
He hugged me tightly. "You take care of yourself ok, crybaby," he said laughing. I gave him a light punch on this arm.

Lastly, I hugged Kazan. I couldn't help but feel sadness. I had no words for him. I just hugged him. "(Y/N), I'll see you soon. It won't be for long." He said to me in his deep voice. "I'll always be here, if you need me," Kazan whispered in my ear, making sure no one heard. I looked at him and cupped his cheek without saying anything. This moment was so intimate, I forgot our friends were still around us. I turned around and walked away from everyone, entering the plane with Killua.

Once in the plane, Killua was staring out the window. He didn't say a word to me the entire ride.
"Killua," I said to him.
He looked at me without answering.
"Is something wrong?" I asked.
"No," he said quietly.

Ummm okay? He really didn't look like he was in the mood, so I didn't bother him for the rest of the ride.

The plane finally landed. We stepped out and thanked the pilot. I looked out to see a enormous gates in front of us.
Woah. This is the Zoldyck home!!
