"Father, where are we?" two young boys, complete opposites physically and personality-wise to each other held a hand of their father who led them down a dark hallway. The youngest of the two, the son with the ebony black hair and wide emerald eyes questioned his father.
He was the more curious son of the two, his head filled with stories and words from poems he would read whereas his older brother is more active. The older brother with his golden hair and aquamarine eyes enjoyed activities that included physical feats of strength.
"We are almost there my sons." The father says, his golden robes glinting against the setting sun before stopping. They stand in front of a statue that sits in the middle of the weapons vault with the other artifacts around it.
"What is this?" the older son questions, tilting his head and disappointed from being brought to see something so boring. The younger son, however, was entranced. The statue towered over the small children, the statue of a stone woman.
She was kneeling on the floor, her hand reached out as if she was holding something, holding something that she longed to hold onto forever. There was a look of grief and eternal sorrow in her eyes despite the calming and warm smile on her face. She was beautiful, the setting sun showering her in molten gold light as if it would melt the stone from her features.
"She looks so sad..." the younger son frowns.
"Because she is Loki. Stories tell of a selfless woman who loved a man with her whole being. Loved him so much to sacrifice herself for him. She was a creature of hope, of understanding, of kindness and mischief despite the stone heart she possessed."
"How could she feel emotions if she had a stone heart?"
"Well Thor, my son, the man she loved taught her to feel, to live and that was the greatest gift and the greatest curse anyone could give her." Thor and his father began to walk away but Loki stood still before the stone woman, a sad frown on his face. There was something about her, the way her eyes held love even though they shed tears, the light glowing over her as if she were an angel with wings.
Loki loses track of time from staring at the statue, not realising that the night had fallen and the air was silent for the world had gone to sleep. He quickly looks around, running out of the weapons vault to head back to his bedroom. There was a sudden burst of light that lit up the night sky, Loki stopping in his tracks to see a meteor shower.
He quickly changes his direction, heading outside. It was rare to see a sudden meteor shower like this, especially one that glowed of all the colours of the Bifrost. Young Loki sat on a step, watching in awe as the world around him glowed with multiple colours, not noticing the woman that sat next to him as she watched in awe.
Loki caught on the small gasp of wonder, looking over to see a grown woman watching the meteor shower with him. Despite being wary of this stranger, he couldn't help enjoy the childlike wonder she shared with him.
"It's beautiful..." Loki mutters, the sky showered with never-ending colours.
"It is, but what is it?" Loki blinked at the woman in surprise, shocked that she didn't know what a meteor shower was.
"You don't know what a meteor shower is?" The woman tilts her head in question at the young boy as he gapes at her. Loki wanted to explain to her the best way possible of the rare sight she was seeing, quickly getting up to run to his room to grab his astrology books. He felt excited to teach and share his favourite books, running back outside to stop. The steps were empty as the meteor shower came to a slow end, the wind whistling softly in the night.
