I decided to try mundane counseling. Simon had told me about it a few days ago, while he was rambling on about my past experiences. Of course, I know he didn't mean to ramble about the trauma but it was Simon and I've come to the conclusion he's just awkward in a quirky way.
I slowly got out of the bed and made my way to change into normal clothing before heading out. Alec had been sleeping all night while I had not. The nightmares from Valentine were too much this time and I didn't want to wake screaming again.
It was just as the sun started peaking through the horizon when I made it to the office in Brooklyn.
"Miss Herondale?" The woman asked as I met her at the door for her to unlock.
"Yeah. Call me Bianca though, please." She nods before allowing me in the door and leading me to her office.
"Make yourself at home, I allow my patients to sit however they feel most comfortable." I did as she said and made my way to the couch seated in front of a couple of chairs. "The first time is always a little awkward and sometimes they don't always want to talk." She finished setting her things down and sat in front of me. "My name is Amelia Bennett. You can call me Mrs. Bennett or Amelia or even Doc." She gave me a smile, which I returned.
"I'm sure a lot of people talk about how they don't know where to start but I will start with the beginning. I do have to warn you, it is a lot and it is heavy and very traumatic. But, I am here to figure out how to heal myself."
"And I am more than capable of helping, Bianca. Whenever you're ready." She crossed one leg over the other, grabbing her pen and notepad. I began to tell her everything, about how my parents were great, and while even though I was so young, I do remember them being good parents. I told her about how I watched as Hodge helped Valentine murder my parents and made everyone think that my baby brother and I were dead after I watched him cut my brother out of my mother and fed her to wolves.
I did know that everything I said was supposed to be safe with her as long as I wasn't a danger to myself or other mundane and other beings. "I know everything I say is doctor/patient confidentiality and everything I'm about to tell you is gonna sound insane and fake."
She nodded, writing in her pad. "Long story short, this man Valentine kidnapped me and my brother, raised us separately, and made him think he belonged to a different family while raising me under him and until I was the age of 12, everything was almost fine. Then he changed like a switch. It wasn't every day but I would get verbal abuse because he thought I had some special powers, which I do, but he couldn't know that because he would use me to kill people." Her eyes were wide and to prove to her I did in fact have abilities, I lifted my hand and used my magic to grab her pen and twirl it around before dropping it back onto her notepad.
"Weirdly enough, that's not the weirdest or worst thing I have ever heard or seen as a therapist. People tell me they have powers all the time and it's usually them imaging it but this is awesome. Please continue."
