Blaze:
Corruption can form beauty, it's not the corruption that is beautiful. There is nothing fascinating about a girl covered in marks from her pain and lips that taste like rust and liquor. There is nothing brilliant about a boy with heavy eyes and hands controlled by his demons. There's no appeal in a relationship that is full of pressure and lies. Though, you will see these faults romanticized daily, but it's only because some people don't understand what those situations do to you. And not a lot know how hard it is to transition your life into something healthy.
The entire day, nerves captivated my judgements. The night held an enormous load of possibilities and my mind couldn't help but clearly picture them. The relationships I had with these boys were delicate or in a sense, barely there. I didn't have a desire to cause a scene or watch one happen tonight so I hoped that one wouldn't be formed like they used to be.
A mixture of blue and purple blanketed the sky as the sun shared its goodbye. I leaned against my car, the warm air sliding against my uncovered skin. The fresh air helped my breathing calm down as my eyes fixated on the house in front of me. With an exhale molded with eagerness and fear, I managed to walk up the stairs and to the front door, knocking lightly.
My tamed curls brushed against my back, my fingers swiping underneath my eyes to collect any makeup that smudged. I waited patiently, taking this time to correct any errors in my appearance. The twist of the knob startled me, the gesture sudden. The face I saw when the door opened was one that had my heart beat fasten to a point that wasn't healthy.
Tiffany.
Her fit body leaned against the side of the great door, a smirk on her coated lips. No words permitted from her mouth as we stood. The dress she wore, was tight and curved onto her figure, revealing what she once dreamed of. A spark of authority ignited in her hazel eyes as they locked into mine.
"Well look who it is, long time no see. Blaze, is it?" Tiffany asked, however we both knew she remembered me.
"Hello Tiffany, you look nice." I forced the smile that shifted from the agape structure my mouth was in.
She raised her shaped eyebrows, backing away from the door. "You've gained some weight."
"Thank you."
"Come in." She grumbled.
I sauntered in, frustration of not receiving a reaction from me was clear on the frown of Tiffany's face as she marched away. My inquisitive eyes wandered around the walls of the small room. The records and awards that were showcased only dimmed the guilt I had built as I thought about the past. I was lost in astonishment of realizing how much they have accomplished that I hadn't realize someone was behind me.
"Blaze." The voice was gentle and easy to distinguish.
Rain beamed, her green eyes crinkled. I noticed her hair was no longer dyed colors you'd find in a rainbow, but now a light brown which she pulled into a side braid. Her skin looked healthier, with more color than it once had. Her lips pressed together as if she was deciding on what to say.
"There's a lot we have to catch up on." She stated. "But everyone is in the dining room so I suggest we go before our food gets cold!"
I would never fully comprehend the maturity that she carried. It had been three years since her and I spoke a word to each other and I never gave her a proper goodbye. She had a right to be aggravated with me for not even bothering to contact her, but she still acted as if I've done no wrong. I wanted to apologize, but I knew that time hasn't arrived yet so I stayed mute as I followed her movements.
The scenery of the dining room was pleasing to the eyes. A glass chandler hung above the table that stretched from both sides of the room. Everyone was seated, their meals barely touched as they talked to one another, only to stop when they noticed my arrival. Michael smiled at me and Ashton waved as Rain brought me to my seat.
Calum hugged me, his tan sweater soft against my skin as he said. "We hope you enjoy the food."
"Anything is perfectly fine, thank you guys for inviting me."
"The pleasure is ours, you look beautiful by the way Blaze." Ashton commented, having my cheeks flush.
"Well that's very nice of you, thank you."
Ashton's words were unforeseen and the pause in everyone's discussions proved that. However, I kept my attention on the creamy pasta settled in front of me. I twirled my fork, gathering the food as I brought it to my lips. The sauce smeared against them as I swallowed the delicious food and wiped the corners of my mouth. Taking a sip of the soda in the cup next to my plate, Michael stopped my actions.
"So how've you been Blaze?" He casualty asked, leaning back into his chair.
"Good, you?" I questioned.
Michael radiated. "Pretty damn amazing, I mean who wouldn't be happy with this life?"
"Luke." Ashton scoffed, chewing on his bread.
Tiffany injected, defending Luke. "My Bubs loves his life!"
The sentence had my head snap up and my fork slip from my hand and onto my plate. Tiffany looked at me, shrugging her shoulders innocently as she placed a kiss on Luke's cheek.
"Where's the bathroom?" I asked Rain, listening to her directions before getting up.
All I needed was to collect myself for a few minutes, so I could prepare myself for another one of Tiffany's sly remarks. I made my way out of the room and towards the spiral staircase. My steps were slow, my mind focused on the way her tone was. Once I got to the top, I continued to walk towards the bathroom.
"Wait, Blaze!" My face moved to the left, where Luke was jogging towards me.
"Yeah?"
"Don't be upset." Luke pleaded, a frantic look in his eyes.
"I'm not." I claimed, trying to influence myself more than him.
"Yes, you are." He argued, pulling at his blonde hair. "Because when you're upset you fidget your fingers and you were doing that when she called me bubs."
"Luke," I breathily chuckled. "I'm fine, I just need to use the bathroom that's all. Thank you for checking up on me though."
"Stop that." Luke snapped, rubbing his eyes. "Blaze I need honesty and you're not giving me it. Tell me that she bothered you."
"Why?"
"Because I know she did!" Luke groaned.
I didn't want to start a fight with him, so I caved in. "Yes, maybe I was a little bothered by her using the name I gave you, but it's fine. I understand you guys are together and are happy and I respect it and wish you the best."
"Fuck that!" Luke's voice elevated somewhat. "You know the only time I was happy when it was you calling me that! Stop lying to yourself Blaze."
"About what?"
"You know I'm in love with you, only you."
Luke moved closer, his face inches away from mine as I repeated his name. "Luke."
"And you know for three years, I've been dying to do this."
The tip of his finger pressed underneath my chin, lifting it up before his lips came in contact with my own. Despite all the negative outcomes, I kissed him back, deeper. The emotions were rushed, but all I could focus on was the movements of our lips.
