Luke;
MAKE SURE TO READ THE AUTHORS NOTE
When you're emotionally intrigued by a person, you find comfort in skeptical places. You could be fragile by the person who brought you to hell but still search for heaven in their eyes. You could swallow the pills that brought you to a world of numbness even when your mother begged you not to. You can claim that you will no longer be around the people who make you feel chained but still end up dialing their number late at night when you can't process your feelings. And your heart knows that you're drowning in an ocean of misperceptions and your eyes see how close the shore is but the two observations never connect to save you in time.
I found comfort in the bitterness that laid in every taste of alcohol. I never truly comprehend why my mind believed being intoxicated solved the issues that infuriated me. But then again, it could have been when I'm in that state of inebriation, everything is blurry so my mouth doesn't worry about the words that escape from it.
The only time I could sort out a rational explanation for discovering comfort was when I found security in Blaze. The year she came into my shielded life was when the truth fell from the city lights and shattered everything. So maybe, some people could determine that I found comfort through fault, since she was there with open ears when I needed them.
Through the slight breeze that dragged across my disheveled hair and the bright sun pushing through the braches, I found myself in front of Blaze's door. The decision of my arrival was one that left me unsure but with an okay from Blaze and reassurance from Michael, I knew I was doing something right for once. So I held onto the hope that with the plan I created with Ashton last night that she would comply.
The door opened and I was greeted with the features of a brunette beauty. "Hello Luke."
A smile distracted the nervous tint my eyes had as I asked. "Hey, mind if I come in?"
Blaze nodded her head, her hands signaling me into the first room of her house. It was rather wide, a black mantel staircase spread across the room, only frames decorating it. I walked against the gray marbled floor, following the steps Blaze took.
We reached her kitchen, the smell of coffee and cookies welcomed my presence as I sat on a stool in front of the counter. Blaze pushed back the russet curls sheltering the blue of her eyes before she focused on me.
"I made coffee. Two sugars and milk, right?" She questioned, referring to my old order.
"No, I just take it black now." I told her, noticing her surprised appearance.
"Drastic change." Blaze mumbled, pouring the liquid into a mug as she handed it to me. "Back then, you'd get annoyed if I gave you anything without a pound of sugar in it."
I shrugged my shoulders, thanking her before I said. "Things change."
Blaze exhaled, seating herself on the stool next to me. Her small hands wrapped around her black mug, with steam swirling from it. I observed as she pressed the mug to her lips, drinking a small sip of her caffeinated beverage before asking.
"So why did you want to stop by? I thought you left Los Angeles."
"We're actually living here for six months," I stopped, again noticing her shock. "We have a two month break, which just started a few days ago. And then we stay here to record, prepare for our world tour and do a few appearances and all that shit."
"Fun." Blaze noted, biting into a chocolate chip cookie. "Want one?"
"No, I'll pass." I hesitated to answer the next question. "And, well I, well actually no, the boys and I wanted to know if you would like to come over for dinner tomorrow at seven. Rain actually landed here only an hour ago, so she wants to see you too. I mean you don't have to, like I know you have a social life and all like trust me I won't be that sad but I'll still be sa-"
"Luke," She giggled, cutting me off. "Yes I'll go."
Silence entered the room and it's wasn't awkward nor tension filled but peaceful. I drank my coffee while she did the same and for a moment it felt like I was stuck in one of my dreams. Even though I appreciated the relaxation, I didn't want to waste any time that I could spend talking to her.
"What's your favorite song by us?" I asked, striking a conversation.
"Wherever You Are." Blaze answered without hesitation.
"Why?"
"I like the lyrics." She said.
"Which ones?"
"Nothing last forever, nothing stays the same."
"Well it's true." I told her, shaking my head.
"Yeah, a boy taught me that one night before my face kissed his lethal hand."
"Is that another song reference because I don't think I wrote that one."
