"Missing"
"I'm sorry Ona, he hasn't been here since you left" Jose Luis said on the other end of the phone "then where is he?" I spat into the phone "I-I don't know, he hasn't checked back in" the line behind me was growing but I didn't care "mira, llama y encuéntralo"(look, call around and find him) i heard a sigh on the other end "we have, he just hasn't" I cut him off "encontrarlo."(find him.) I said sternly "and tell him to call me" before he could protest I hung the phone up and walked away, back to Marcus's dorm.
When I got back, lex, Willy and Billy were playing video games while Petra did homework and Marcus was drawing on his bed. I laid on Marcus's shoulder, not saying anything, just watching his pen flow on the paper "you ok?" He asked. I shrugged "what's wrong" he went on "Chico...he hasn't called back, he's been gone for two weeks now Marcus" Billy and Willy both choked on the soda they had been drinking which caught me lex and Petra off guard and made Marcus shoot them a look "it's-its been two weeks?" I nodded
"This isn't him, sure he goes off on jobs like this but, he usually calls at least once" Marcus wrapped an arm around me and rubbed up my arm "I'm sure he's... fine" I looked up blankly "seriously, he's a tuff dude, he'll be ok" I nodded and we all went back to what we were doing before. I sat tuned out for the most part, mostly worried, I didn't know why my brother would be gone like this for so long, it wasn't like him.
We had been hanging out for a while now, I didn't really want to be around everyone anymore "hey, I'm gonna go to bed, I'll see you in the morning" I kissed Marcus on the cheek then got my stuff and walked out the room and went to mine. I sat on my bed, kind of lost, I tried to think of everything he could be doing, everywhere he could've went. After thinking for a little, I grabbed my phone book and went over to Juan's dorm. I barged in and interrupted his make out session with another Soto Vato "Ona! It's not" she started "I don't care, give me your phone" I said to Juan.
He got up and unplugged the phone he had plugged into his wall. I took it then nodded "thanks" I said before walking out and shutting the door behind me. When I got back to my dorm I plugged the phone in and started dialing. I called everyone I knew in Vegas, every hotel, every motel, every bar, all our friends, the tattoo shop, random liquor stores, hospitals, police stations, homeless shelters, anything I could think of, but he wasn't there.
"I'm sorry Mija, he hasn't been here, wish I could do more" the last casino owner I knew said. A defeated tear rolled down my cheek "yea-it's alright, if he checks in can you let him know I called" they hummed on the other side "thank you, bye" they hung the phone up and I sat silently. I cried for a second until I was completely taken over by anger "FUCK!" I shouted as I threw the phone at the wall next to my door. At the same time Marcus was walking in. He flinched back as the phone shattered.
I slid down my bed onto the floor and he rushed over. "Hey, hey you're alright" he said soothingly, he placed my head on his shoulder "whe-where is he?" I cried "wh-why hasn't he called?" I added. Marcus stuttered for a second "have you ever thought-I don't know-maybe he doesn't...wanna be...found?" He said hesitantly which made me sit up. I sniffled and stared confusingly at him "what like he...ran away?" He shrugged and nodded "No! No he wouldn't just run away. My brother isn't the type to just run away!"
