The Truth
The next morning, when I was sober, me and Marcus did talk again but it was just more of an argument. Since then we weren't talking, we shared glances in class or the halls or the cafeteria or just passing each other but other then that, we never said a word. People kept asking if we were together and I didn't know what to say so, I walked past them. After a week or so, I noticed Marcus was acting more like a single guy so I didn't even try talking to him. The week I noticed him acting single was the same week I noticed the red lipstick stains on his collars and neck, I was starting to think falling for him was stupid.Along with noticing the lipstick, I noticed my friends were getting more and more distant. Billy and Lex didn't talk to me, willie only ever talked to me when it came to business and Petra said she didn't know what was going on. Along side that, Saya was being scary nice. She slid me answers during quizzes or the homework, her gang stopped trying to beef with the cartel, and she tried talking to me randomly but of course I didn't want to talk to her and Maria didn't allow her to.
I was in my room, doing an assignment for Lin when Juan knocked on my door then came in. He threw me a small envelope "for you" he said before going to walk out "is it my dad?" I asked making him stop. He shook his head "doesn't say who it's from" I nodded and he left. I ripped open the letter, inside was a single piece of paper with the words "meet me tonight at the park down the street alone" as sketchy as it was, I obeyed and got dressed. I threw on a hoodie some leggings and a pair of old converse. I slid my blade into the waist band of my pants just in case then grabbed my keys and went over to the location.
Just to be sure, I drove around the park twice. I only saw one person, I couldn't tell if they were a girl or guy but they were definitely waiting for someone so I parked and went over to them. As I got closer I noticed they were wearing a leather jacket and it was a girl, I took a few more steps and saw it was saya.
"Is there a reason you have me in the cold while I was doing homework?" I asked as I got closer to her. She looked up stunned I was there "Yea actually...It's something I thought you should know because you deserve to"I laughed at her "are you trying to be nice right now?" She rolled he eyes but I continued to laugh until she talked again "look, you've been through a lot lately and" I shrugged and tilted my head at her "and you want to add more bad news right?" I interrupted, crossing my arms as to keep myself warm. She didn't answer and the cold was starting to irritate me so I sort of snapped "Right! so let's get this over with, just tell me what you know ok?" She sort of jerked back a little "Look I'm just trying to help you don't have to be so rude all the time" I rolled my eyes "ok so then help, stop dragging this shit and spit it-" before I could finish her words slipped out "Marcus cheated on you with Maria in Vegas" her words stung. I didn't know what to do, or say. I suspected something but to have it confirmed was like a knife to the chest "wha-what?" Was all I could make out.
"Me and Maria heard they were going so we joined. Before him and Billy killed Billy's dad- Ona we were all tripping on acid-we only left them alone for five minutes" I stumbled on my thoughts, Billy and willie knew "and-and you- you guys didn't stop them?" Was the first thought that made it out of my head. She started getting defensive "Ona we were really high. we thought it was funny so we left them"I felt my eyes begin to burn and a lump started forming in my throat but I wasn't going to get weak in front her of all people.
