The legacy ball...the stupidest thing at this school. Every year it's the same thing with some new, terrible theme. Last year it was fire and ice, the year before that it was neon lights, the year before that was night on a cruise...they had a cruise ship cut out for pictures. The first one I ever went to was medieval masquerade and this year it was "sleep with the fishes?" I said as they handed me my ticket "you can go dressed as a mermaid hermanita" my brother said with a laugh. I glared at him "haha, you're so funny" I said as I shoved his arm and started to walk away.
My brother and Juan caught up and both walked on either side of me. We were stopped by Ivan, he was part of KGB and viktors right hand "move" I said as he stood in front of me. I already knew what he was going to ask because his big mouthed friends told me a week ago he was going to ask me to the dance. I never wanted to go with anyone because one, no one is cute, and two I always left the dance not even half way through to go to the roof with Petra. "I will, but give me one minute" he said as he played with his hands "ok, talk" he looked at his friends who were hurrying him "will you go to legacy ball with me?" He said finally, my brother and Juan chuckled to themselves "no" I said before pushing past him and walking to class. I heard my brothers laughs get louder "it's alright hombrecito(little man) there's always next year, although she might say no then to" my brother teased as they followed after me.
While walking to class there was a loud snap then laughing "got one!" It was Jaden another legacy student. We turned the corner and standing there, stuck in a rat trap, was Billy. I went to go help him get out but my brother stopped me "Qué estás haciendo?"(what are you doing) my brother asked while he held a hand in front of me "helping him, those things hurt Chico" he shook his head no "it's hazing week Ona, it's a tradition leave it" I looked at him then to Billy who mouthed he was ok then turned and started walking down the hall again.
While walking we passed viktor at his locker, his embarrassing moment from a few days ago was still burning strong but he was riding off the attention and how he slept with Petra at the party "ay viktor, compa, you get your rabies shot, heard you nailed the vampire rat" my brother said, he was talking about Petra. "Communism does not see rich or poor, only vagina" viktor said as he gave his friends high fives "I'm surprised anyone is screwing you, you're like a big dumb ken doll on steroids" I said in response. When we walked away I smacked my brothers arm "I'll watch you play your tricks, but I won't let you talk about them like that, especially Petra" he threw his hands in defense and we made it to my class.
I went to the locker room where I changed into a pair of jeans and the school hoodie. Petra walked in and started to change as well "I'm sorry about my brother" I said as I put my uniform in my locker "it's fine, I don't care" she said. I waited for her to finish and sat on the bench "so...you and viktor, when did that happen?" I said with a small laugh, she rolled her eyes and chuckled "I only did it to get away from Billy" I looked at her confused and she continued "he was like, confessing his feelings to me and I didn't know what else to do so when he turned away I took off and grabbed viktor on the way" I stood up "Petra! Are you serious, that's so messed up" I tried to sound stern but broke and laughed a little, she did the same "I know but, I just didn't want to do that" she finished tying her shoes and we walked out the locker room and into miss de Luca's class. As we walked in she handed us a blow dart and told us to stand in line. I stood in one line while Petra stood in the one next to me.
