Author Notes

This AU is basically Russian Roulette AU except they're normal students, almost none of the messed up shit happened. No discrimination in this sub AU so Russia isn't a wanted criminal (sort of)

This was originally supposed to be on google docs but I couldn't figure it out so I posted it on wattpad instead.

As I write this, I'm working on the actual chapter for this week (hopefully I can get it out) I'm just a little under the weather so accept this as like a snack in the meantime.

Content warnings : idk Rusame, Gerpol, slight spoilers for the actual story (?)

---------------------

Valentines - what an annoying day; students swarm the halls, running their mouths and proclaiming their love while their friends spy in the background. A pointless day that Russia never saw the meaning of.

He doubted whoever getting chocolate or flowers would actually care about the other party's feelings. Whatever, it's free chocolate.

Truth be told, he had received gifts from previous valentines', however none of them really ended well. Rumor has it that whoever gives chocolate to Russia on valentines has a one way ticket to being thrown off the school roof.

The only ones who did dare, were his closest friends. China for example often times gave out chocolates shaped like cats, while Japan's homemade ones were the absolute best. South and North liked making them together, recently with the assistance of a Polish Angel. Germany was like Russia, not really understanding the point in such a random event. Heck, to her it didn't matter if anyone gave one to her. Albeit she didn't care, she did want to feel included with her friend's antics despite not understanding them.

Besides, giving chocolate to Poland and seeing her happy was quite worth it. Her brother often told her to try and be more social, because now he was in a different class and he wouldn't always be there for her.

Lastly of course... the star of the day, the prince himself, America. Students swoon for his looks, power, wealth, status, what is it that he doesn't have?

Every valentines, mountains of flowers would be piled atop his table, the overwhelming scent of sweets wafted in the air, almost putrid.

Each year he'd only spare it one glance before tossing it into his locker. However he was quite nice about it, rejecting them gently, somehow still able to maintain his good relations with everyone.

Something about all of this always set Russia in a lousy mood for the rest of the day. Perhaps it was the prince's incessant teasing and boasting that made Russia want to sucker punch him in the face.

As expected, Russia walked into class today to the sickly sweet scent of flowers that made his tail curl in revolt. What he didn't notice was the countless pairs of eyes glued to him as he walked towards his seat.

The first thing Russia noticed was his desk teeming with gifts, flowers, sweets, you name it. Smack dab in the middle was an envelope, sealed with a heart stamp and his name engraved in cursive on one of the corners.

What he thought was some random joke or misplacement at first morphed into a legitimate confession of love. Russia was a bit flabbergasted to say the least, I mean who in the right mind would do something this extravagant?

This was even grander than any confession America had ever received. Each flower was placed in an orderly fashion to create a pattern. Roses, the universal flower people give on valentines... and chamomile, Russia's favorite.

Even each rose had been trimmed of its thorns and not a single petal out of place.

Anonymous, the letter didn't have a sender name.
