The crowd cheered on from past the walls, groups of people huddled together, whispering amongst themselves, probably shit talking the other participants.

The Russian paced around nervously, his tail occasionally hitting an object. South and North were sat down next to Russia with serious expressions.

"When do you think he'll show up?" North was referring to America. They hadn't seen him all morning and the tournament was about to start, if they didn't have enough members they'd be disqualified.

South sighed, "I mean it's not like the prince did anything this week that would get him sick, or maybe he was summoned by the kingdom again?"

When south said that, Russia flinched, remembering when they fell into the freezing cold pond. He could've got sick and couldn't show up.

"I'll go back to our room to check if he's there-" the Russian was about to leave when North stopped him, "it's gonna start pretty soon, I don't think it's wise to go around looking for him." The tone the North Korean dragon used was hostile.

Russia pried off North's hand that was grabbing his with an icy glare, then he sat down. Russia also felt that if he left now, he wouldn't make it back in time.

Times ticking.

A man entered the waiting room of the tournament participants, he had a halo that had dangling stars which shined brightly, he also had an imposing aura, everyone in the room noticed his presence. Russia could feel the noticeable shift in mood.

He walked from group to group asking a few things, then he reached The trio's group.

"I'm EU, I'll be reviewing over the participants, where are your last two teammates?" He took out a clipboard and scribbled some things down. Russia couldn't take his eyes off the extremely flashy halo hovering around his head.

"Yeah.. about that..." South opened his mouth to speak, just as he was gonna come up with some excuse, a familiar voice called out to them. "Hey guys! Sorry I'm late, I ran into an issue."

America walked up to them, dragging something behind him.

Well, technically someone.

It was Japan, but this time he seemed exhausted and bound in ropes. "Hey Mr EU, we're the last two teammates, that means we qualify right?" America pointed at himself then at the pitiful tied up Japan.

"I supposed so... are you gonna let him out?" EU wrote a few more things then used his pen to point at the Japanese man. "We will later," America shrugged.

EU decided to let them sort it out themselves, he still had a lot of other teams to review anyways.

"Yeah sorry I'm late, he put up quite a fight."

The other three didn't need a hint to figure out what happened. "Does this count as kidnapping? Should I call the knights?" South asked with a blank expression plastered on his face.

North held his head in his hands in disbelief meanwhile Russia just raised an eyebrow in acknowledgement. America bent down to untie Japan, when the ropes loosened, the Japanese man sprung up from his seat and pointed his finger at the American accusingly.

"I said it before I won't be your teammate in the tournament!"

"I heard you were gonna join but didn't know how to approach people to become your teammates, so I approached you to be my teammate." America said with an innocent smile.

Japan didn't have a response to that because all of what America said was technically true, "well.. still, you're the last person I'd go to! Didn't I make it clear that I hate your guts?"
