Chapter 9

We rode in silence until we got to the station.

“Thanks, Liam!” I opened the door.

“Call me when you’re done, I’ll pick you up, ok?” he looked at me with his nice soft eyes.

“You’ve got football practice; I’ll just call my mom.”

“No, its fine just call me when you’re done.” He smiled.

“Alright, I got to go, bye and thanks again!” I ran to the building while pulling my skirt down to a modesty level and turned around and looked back and waved at Liam. He waved back and drove away. I pulled open the door and walked inside. Carter came running up to me and pulled me into his booth.

“Set your stuff down we got to go to the meeting in the conference room.” He shook my shoulders and waited for me.

“Ok, Carter chill!” I put my bag down but slipped my phone into my pocket.

“Ready?”

“Yep.” I popped the “p” and grabbed the portfolio for the booth and Carter’s background check. We walked down the hall into the conference room and waited for Carter’s dad and Scooter Braun and his crew. After about 2 minutes my phone buzzed in my pocket and I took it out of my pocket. New Message.

Liam :): Remember, just call when you’re ready!!

Me: I know, I know! Now shoo! You have football practice.

Liam :): Wow, what would I do without you?

Me: Be late for football practice?

Liam :): I have a surprise for you after your meeting!

Me: yippee! Speaking of which I have to go! Byee

I put my phone away because Carter and I heard voices coming down the hall and soon enough, Scooter Braun and Mr. Waters walked into the conference room. We rose and shook their hands and everybody took their seats.

“Hello, I’m Scooter Braun. And you two are?” Scooter sat across from us.

“Carter Waters.”

“Kat Love”

“Kat? What kind of name is that?”

“What kind of name is Scooter?” I shot back. Carter tensed up and shot me a hateful glance. Scooter started laughing.

“Touché! So Carter you work the radio station that is becoming popular?”

“Yes, sir.”

“Justin listens to that daily. He really wants to get some of his songs more frequently and maybe do some interviews. What do you think?” he looked at Carter.

“Well-“ Carter began.

“Wait. I have a question.” I spoke up.

“Yes, ma’am?”

“Why isn’t Justin here to speak for himself? And ,no offense or anything, why are you here?”

“Well, Justin is asleep at home because he just finished touring and was so tired-“

“Most of the time, the artist come here personally to work out something. Not someone else. If you haven’t figured it out already we have a waiting list.” I looked him straight in the eye.
