Chapter 18

Author's note: Hello again! Welcome back to Hiding in Plain Sight. I hope you enjoy this chapter, I'm looking forward to what's coming, but we gotta set the scene. Big Loves - Lexi. (I'm going to Disneyworld tomorrow for 15 nights... so updates won't be for a few weeks after these latest ones.)

----Kylo POV----

When they arrived back at the New Supremacy, Kylo could see why Hux hadn't replied - their Final Order fleet were under attack from both Pryde and the Resistance. It was a hellhole of blaster canon shots and laser blasts. Kylo told Kuruk to get them aboard the New Supremacy so he could co-ordinate the battle with Hux.

"Nova. Whatever happens, stay the hell away from anyone who isn't Final Order."

"Yes Kylo."

They arrived into the panicked rush of the hanger, and TIE fighters whizzing out of the hanger and into the fray of battle. Kylo rushed to the bridge, through busy corridors and found Hux, "Hux? What the hell is going on?"

"Pryde came to claim Nova... Demanded her. Mid-discussions, the Resistance appeared. It's become a three-way fight. It's been going on for a couple of hours. There's so many ships, it's hard to co-ordinate because who do we attack first."

"Shield us as best you can, pull us back. They're not getting Nova. This is nothing more than a powerplay. Fire on Pryde's main ship, send a dreadnought across to end it. It has the new, modified canons. End Pryde's main ship." There was suddenly the sound of blaster fire within the ship, "What the fuck is that?"

"There's men in the corridor, Supreme Leader." Came the panicked response of a bridge officer.

Hux ran and ordered that Troopers clear the New Supremacy of the invaders. Kylo reached out to the Knights and ordered them to kill anything that wasn't Final Order on the ship, and to find Nova. Nova was still closed off to him, so he hit the comms to her quarters and got nothing. He growled, "Hux, I have to find my apprentice. Keep co-ordinating this. Clearing the ship and ending that stolen ship is most important."

"Yes, Supreme Leader."

Kylo sprinted through the New Supremacy, cutting through anyone who came at him. Nova's quarter doors were blasted open, inside was utter chaos and bloodshed. The Knights were stood back, and in the centre of the destruction, was Nova, lightsaber casting a violet glow over her quarters, her eyes glowing in that strange, yellowy grey way, her other hand raised. Kylo knew what that meant, she had tapped into that Sith dark sorcery that had bolted him to kingdom come.

"Nova?" Kylo said softly.

"I'm fine Kylo... I have control."

"R-really?" He couldn't believe it. She was all there.

"The voices are there now, but they guide me. Not torture me. I can hear you. I can feel the Knights. I feel the Force, the darkness. I can feel it all. The rage of the fighters in their ships. The pain of the injured and the dying... Pryde is aboard this ship. He's come for the other carbonite bodies, and for me."

"I know... and the resistance have come to kill us."

"Poe Dameron and Finn. The traitor."

"Yes...."

"Let's show them the power of the darkside, Master." Nova looked up and met his gaze.

Kylo broke into a grin, "Yes, Apprentice. Let's do that. Knights. Kill anything aboard that isn't here on my Orders. Nova... Let's go to the Corvette. We'll wait for your father."

"We're going to take a ship... go to Pryde's ship. Find what he has on me." Nova said firmly, "Then on the way out, we destroy his ship. Sometimes the darkside is the Force... other times. It's explosives." She broke into a grin that made even Kylo quirk a brow.

"We can take the TIE silencer. It's small. But it's fast, and nasty."

Nova stepped forward, de-igniting her lightsaber and clipping it back to her belt. "Lead the way, Master Ren."

Kylo led them through the ship, using the Force to stop blaster shots and redirecting them back at the resistance and Pryde's men aboard. Nova concentrated and took out fighters with the bolt of hatred, each time she did it, Kylo could sense a drain on her. Kylo was still taken aback by such connection to the dark side, that such training had ever been given to a child, but he also worried for her, the strain she was putting on herself. The pride he had in her, he didn't feel like he had an apprentice, but an equal. Someone to rule with him. A new way forward... They made their way together, and reached Kylo's TIE silencer. He climbed inside, and Nova followed. She climbed into Kylo's lap as there was only the one seat.

"I'll fly, you shoot." Kylo ordered, starting up his ship.

They zipped out of the hanger door, and toward Pryde's ship, shooting at fighters that fired on them. Kylo watched Nova shoot the blasters and canons on the TIE silencer, it took her a couple of moments to get herself used to the controls, but soon she was concentrated and focused on her targets.

"Good girl, Nova. We're almost there, keep us clear a little longer," Kylo said softly, guiding the TIE silencer toward Pryde's ship.

They reached the hanger, and Kylo landed, and the pair of them got out and fought their way through the Hanger. Kylo led the way through the ship, it was mostly the same as it had been. Most changes were cosmetic. They found Pryde's office first, and Nova went inside, followed by Kylo. The pair of them quickly searched the office, very little being uttered between them. They worked quickly together, searching high and low, every cupboard and drawer.

"Nothing here, Kylo... Quarters."

"Let's go... This is going to get difficult, we're going deeper into the ship."

"Need to turn the shields off anyway..." Nova grinned.

"What are you planning?"

"The Knights are waiting in the Buzzard with back up TIE fighters... to blow Pryde's flagship to oblivion. And I have a plasma grenade to leave in his quarters... just because it'll make me giddy."

"You... are sly, apprentice."

"Nah, just well trained, Master."

Kylo chuckled and then ran out into the hall, and fought their way past Pryde's people, their bodies little more than black robed blurs and crimson and violet glows of their sabers. They made their way through training suites that were set up to look like desert planets and jungle planets, taking blaster fire and fighting their way through, past Pryde's men and the Resistance. And soon found quieter corridors to slip through. Nova and Kylo got into Pryde's quarters, and inside they found..... Poe Dameron and Finn.

"What the fuck?" Kylo snarl, igniting his lightsaber once more.

"What are you doing here?"

"Planting explosives, you?" Poe countered.

"...Liars. You want information. You're attacking as a distraction. There's others aboard the New Supremacy... Isn't there?" Nova ignited her own lightsaber, and raised a hand, the air beginning to crackle with red energy. "If there's something we hate more than Traitors. It's liars. Never lie to us. If we ask about it, don't lie about it, because we know about it."

"What is that?" Finn asked worriedly.

"Your demise." Kylo all but purred. Raising his own hand, his lightsaber in his other hand.

Poe quickly pulled a blaster and fired at Nova. Kylo stopped the blast and threw it back at Poe, catching the New Resistance leader in the arm, but it distracted Kylo protecting Nova, and Finn and Poe made a run for it. Nova swung around and blasted them with the Sutta Chwituskak, Kylo liked that Nova had found something that worked for her, and though he felt her draining, she was getting much better at it. Finn fell to the floor writing in agony, screaming out in pain. Kylo would have felt sorry for him, he knew how much that hurt, but he cared little for Traitors. Poe gathered him up and made a break for it, as fast and best he could. Nova growled and stepped to follow them. Kylo grabbed her and shook his head.

"No, Nova. Let's search. Then drop the shields."

"Fine..." She turned and walked over to Pryde's bedroom. "He always kept everything of worth in his bedroom. To hand in case he had to make a run in the middle of the night."

The searched and found a locked box. Kylo hacked it open with his lightsaber, and they found a datapad, and a pile of paperwork like that which had been found in the Corvette. Nova grabbed it and shoved it in her thigh bag, and then Kylo nodded for them to head out. They ran through the ship, and reached the control room where they could lower the shields. Kylo lowered them whilst Nova looked out. They heard the shields lower, and Nova pulled out a comms unit and sent word to the TIE fighters and the Knights. The barrage began in earnest, and Kylo and Nova were thrown around the corridors as they ran for the hanger. They got back inside the TIE Silencer, the workers of the ship too concentrated on trying to flee to fight them. Kylo took off, and again, Nova in his lap manning the blasters, though Kylo noticed her hands shaking. She was burning out, fast. They reached the New Supremacy, and landed. Just in time to watch Pryde's flapship burn and begin to fall in pieces to the planet below.

"It's not his entire fleet, but he's taken a pretty big hit." Kylo mused, and then saw an escape shuttle leaving the New Supremacy, "And there goes your father."

"Shoot him out of the sky." Nova spat angrily.

"No... He'll not get a quick death, apprentice." Kylo shook his head. "When his time comes, he'll beg for a merciful death that will not come to him."

"What did he get Hux?" Nova span and looked at the General.

"Nothing of worth. None of the paperwork, the Supreme Leaders quarters and offices were protected heavily by Sith Troopers as soon as I could get some there, but the quarters were seemingly reached before the Troopers were dispatched. Several staffs have gone with him on that transport pod. Seems we had traitors in our midst," Hux replied. "He got schematics of the ship, there was scans of the memory bank, and during the battle the schematics were downloaded."

"Sure up the defences, Hux. Keep the New Supremacy guarded by dreadnoughts and star destroyers, and constant TIE fight patrols."
