General POV
It had been a few months since Sirius had
discovered Remus' 'furry little secret', and every full
moon Sirius would join James and Peter to play
with Remus when he turned. Although Sirius was
always the first to visit Remus in the Hospital Wing
the morning after.Valentine's Day was coming up soon and Sirius had
declined all of the love confessions and dates he
was proposed, hoping that a special someone
would ask him.Remus and him had done a lot of fake flirting the past few months and James and Peter would always be annoyed by it, which is, of course, half the reason why Sirius does it in the first place. The other half was the growing feelings he had for Remus. They just wouldn't go away but Sirius wasn't even sure in he wanted them to.
Sirius was coming back from rejecting another girl
with the excuse of 'I'm gay' which technically
wasn't a lie."Rejected another? C'mon Siri you gotta accept
one. Eventually you're going to go through every
single girl or boy in the school!" James exclaimed
loudly."A little louder Prongs, I don't think the 5th year Ravenclaw dormitory heard you." He said sarcastically and sat down with a groan. Remus laughed lightly and Sirius looked over to him with a bright smile.
"Sirius?" James snapped his fingers in front of Sirius' face, bringing him back from the fantasy that was Remus Lupin. "Were you even listening?" James asked.
"Sorry what?" Sirius questioned, looking back at
James."Well I was saying how I'm gonna ask out Evans today." He replied with a grin.
"And how is this different than any other day?" Remus interjected with a smirk. Peter chuckled and James sent him a quick glare before turning back to Sirius.
"Anyways, I was thinking I could use fireworks this time," James suggested. "Or maybe write something in the sky? Or..." Sirius wasn't listening to James anymore but instead staring at Moony. Again. He just couldn't take his eyes off him. He really hoped this wouldn't happen because he had just made friends and didn't want to ruin that newfound friendship with his... feelings.
Remus turned to look at Sirius and smiled shyly at Sirius' unbroken gaze. Remus moved his eyes towards James.
"Or maybe, hear me out, you could go up to her. Give her some peonies, they're her favorite flowers. Ask her out like a normal person?" Remus suggested.
"What the bloody hell are peonies? And how do you know what her favorite flowers are?" Jeans questioned.
"I'm her friend too you know?" Remus laughed and turned back towards Peter, leaving James to ask Lily.
They had just finished eating their food when an ecstatic looking James, quite literally, jumped over to them.
"She said yes!!" He screeched. Sirius covered his ears and chuckled slightly.
"Congrats mate." Remus patted his back and looked over to Lily who was holding the peonies James conjured for her. Sirius did the same and they made their way to the Black Lake to "study". Remus of course would study, but I can't say the same for the other three Marauders.
"Sirius? Can I talk to you?" Asked a girl that came up to them as they stumbled down the hill from laughing.
"Lila? Um... sure?" He said, sounding more like a question as she pulled him away from the group.
After a while they had stopped at a vegetable patch next to the herbology green house.
"What do you need Lila?" He asked politely. Lila was always really nice to Sirius, although she was a bit rude to everyone else, he could get her to calm down most of the time. They barely spent anytime together except for when they saw each other in the library and their small conversations in the corridors.
"I was wondering if you'd be my valentine?" She asked, confidently.
"Oh." He thought about Remus. There was no way he would have a chance with him and why bother with waiting for him when this girl was standing right in front of him. Well she would practically just be a friend, considering his sexuality. But he had to get his mind off Remus. "Sure..." he replied hesitantly. She pecked him on the lips before skipping off with a smile.
Remus' POV
"He's taking a while, I'm gonna make sure she didn't kidnap him." I said with a laugh as James climbed the tree and Peter watched.
"Ok." Peter replied shortly as James was still occupied trying not to fall out of the large tree.
I made my way in their direction and saw them next to the vegetable patch. I was about to walk up to him when the girl spoke again.
"I was wondering if you'd be my valentine?" she asked with courage I could never have when asking someone out.
Sirius' reply sounded hesitant as he paused before accepting her request. Something in my chest clenched and my eyebrows furrowed with hurt. My throat became parched as I watched her kiss him. My hands clenched, my nails digging into my palms.
I stormed off to James and Peter again as Sirius made his way back a few moments later and sat down beside me. I scooted away from him slightly, resting my head on the tree as I studied a Potions book. As he was about to comment, James interuppted him.
"What happened?" He asked. Sirius smiled slightly before replying.
"She just asked my to be her valentines." He responded shortly as if James wouldn't screech like a little girl. Of course he did.
"You said yes?" He jumped out of the tree.
"Yea." Sirius said and James mouth formed an 'O'. Sirius chuckled and looked at me, who was already staring at him instead of my book. Could you blame me? It would be a straight up lie to say he wasn't attractive. The his hair slightly blew in the breeze, his piercing grey eyes that darted from James to me. His tie hung loosely around his neck and he held a small joke book in his hand that he had brought down to review with James.
They talked about Lila until I couldn't listen to another word about her without my hands clenching into fists.
"I'm gonna go back to the dormitory." I said abruptly through gritted teeth, picking up my things and throwing them into my satchel as I made my way to the dormitory only to get stopped by Lila.
"Hey Lupin!" She shouted from across the room and waved her hand over, gesturing for me to join her. I made my way over. "Be a dear and stay away from Sirius will you?" Her words would suggest she was asking but it sounded more like a command.
I looked at her confused and she scoffed. "What do you mean?" I asked.
"I see the way he looks at you during meals and in classes. And the way you look at him." She stated as if it was obvious. I narrowed my eyes at her and turned away sharply before walking back to the Gryffindor dormitories.
"Just stay away!" She screamed after me. I rolled my eyes at her.
